My used SUV was purchased on Nov. of 2019. We took it to Ziebart on Nov 22, 2019 to ensure the frame was good. Our SUV is used for K-9 cadaver searches with MD law enforcement. Ziebart kept the SUV for 4 days. *Rust inspection / vehicle prep *Rust eliminator, *Undercoating *Frame sanded and prepped for rust eliminator and undercoating. *We were told the frame now has a warranty from rust as long as I take it to Ziebart once a year for inspection and undercoating. total cost $869.00 For four years we would take the SUV to ziebart for inspection and re-undercoating. $73.00 a year. I took my SUV to Ziebart October 2024 for the annual inspection and undercoating. A tremendous amount of rust was found all over the frame! "how could this happen?" I thought. The manager asked me "did you buy the SUV new?" I said no and the manager said, "there is nothing we can do since you didn't buy it new" he then sent me away to an auto body shop. He was very nervous. *Ziebart of course new the SUV was used when I brought it in Nov.of 2019. 06' Toyota with 120k miles. Plus why does it matter if it's used or new especially after the initial 4 day $869.00 process reflected a good rust free frame? We told Ziebart it was used when we purchased it. What floored my wife and I is finding that much rust on the frame within a year since the last Ziebart inspection. Plus warranty. I drove to seven auto body shops. A few shops have said they had seen this before with Ziebart and said their process was a sham. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and no one wanted to do the job. I finally found a metal fabricator (very difficult to find) who cut out all the rust on the frame and fabricated metal patch panels to weld onto the frame. He said "I found 9 places that I had to repair. I also found rust under the coatings that Ziebart used". He told me never to go back to Ziebart. Total cost to repair all the rust on the frame: $1,500.00. We are truly disappointed. Money paid to business: $1,091.00

I Know Mr. K****** and has been a customer at our location for years before I took over this location as owner. I spoke to the former owner of Ziebart, he also remembered Mr. K****** and his vehicle because of the great work he and his wife do. Steve the former owner told me that he explained to Mr. K****** before doing the work on the 13 year old vehicle, he had a lot of rust and that we would treat and help manage, but also told to him once you have rust you always have rust and the best we can do is help manage it through inspections and treatments. At no time was Mr. K****** promised that this a cure all. I understand that he is upset for the add expense of repairs needed to keep the vehicle running, he is more than welcome to come in and speak with me. (John) and see if there is anything I can do.
