The company's lawnmowers broke our new vinyl fence. When first contacted, ***** said they will take the financial responsibility. But about two months and several unanswered emails and phone calls later, we have not heard anything from them. We did, however, receive two lawnmowing bills which we had to pay.

    Business Response

In response to Complaint ID: ********

On October 8, 2024, Patapsco Valley Lawn & Landscape LLC provided a lawn mowing service for Sayyem Akbar at property location *************************************************; 21075.  We have been providing lawn mowing services to the property since April 9, 2024.   On October 8, 2024, I received an email from Mr. ***** stating he noticed two holes in his privacy fence after we had left the property.  I responded to his email that I was sorry to hear about the damage to his fence and that it appears some object must have been on the ground near the fence that we mowed over with our mower.  Please note that OUR MOWER DID NOT PHYSICALLY HIT THE FENCE.  I have attached a picture of the damaged fence for your reference that Mr. ***** provided to me.  From the picture, it appears the cable cord circled in yellow highlight was laying on the ground near the fence and our mower ran over it causing it to be thrown out of the mower and hit the fence.  You can see the entry point the cable hit the fence that I highlighted and circled in purple.  The visible notice of the green marks on the fence shows the 'whipping action' of the cable.  Also note in the picture, the large rocks laying near the fence.

Our service is to provide lawn mowing.  It is the responsibility of the customer to have their yard cleared of debri so we can mow their lawn.  If we had to walk each of our customer's properties to assess for debri and remove it off the ground, we would be out of business.

If our mower physically hit the fence, I would agree that it would be our responsibility to fix the fence. The damage to the fence is the negligence of the customer.

Moving forward because of this incident, we are now requiring our customers to sign waivers to omit our company from liability property damage due to neglecting to remove debri from their property.  Our customers are not going to like this, but we need to protect ourselves.

Mr. ***** has commented on our social media platforms to cause harm to our reputation.  We will respond to these comments with what is stated in our response to you including his name and address.

Despite our stance that it is not our responsibility for the damaged fence, I am mailing a check for $400 today to Sayyem Akbar.  I have attached the copy of the check.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

    Customer Answer

    Date: 01/18/2025

I appreciate that Patapsco Valley Lawn & Landscape LLC finally agreed to reimburse me for the amount it costed me to fix the fence that they broke. However, it appears that in order to get back at me for providing bad reviews for their company, they have decided to publish my full name and home address in their responses to my reviews. As they wrote in their response in BBB, **** ***** has commented on our social media platforms to cause harm to our reputation.  We will respond to these comments with what is stated in our response to you including his name and address." So far, I have seen them post my full name and home address on ******, Nextdoor, and ******* List. Thankfully, Nextdoor deleted their post once I reported it for violation of my privacy. ******* List also removed my personal information from the company's post. However, their response to my review on ****** is still in place with my full name and home address for everyone to see. This is not only unprofessional, but borderline illegal.

Link to the ****** review: *****************************************

I have also attached screenshots to show the company's response to my ****** review with my full name and home address. Also, please see the screenshot of the company's response to my review on ******* List, where thankfully ******* List removed my personal information from the company's post.
