Hello, My name is VonCedric ****** II and unfortunately I have to bring my issue to your attention. I attended a beginner/first rider class and the information is as follows:Event: MDROPH-BRC-******-1 / MD-******** / Basic Rider Course Venue: MD-********-VFW **************************************************** American Legion ****************************************** Because of my experience there, Im requesting a refund in full because I dont feel comfortable going back to that location after me being singled out. Instead of the instructors properly training and providing me corrections of their supposed argument of me not following directions, not properly using clutch, and me being late to the second day, I was singled out because Im a African American of mixed heritage who looks like Im from the city of *********. I was judged on perception because I was in a training class for first time/beginner riders. In my response to their claims I followed directions because many of the exercises is following the person in front of you, so when I did the same thing as the person in front of me why am I singled out. The first day I began to understand how to use the clutch during the latter part of the day, because initially my vision was distorted from sweat getting into my eye. My performance and skills greatly improved from the first day. I informed the instructor by pointing at my eye from outside of my helmet but didnt wipe my eye until it was safe. Once my vision was clear it made it easier for me to understand how to use the clutch from being able to concentrate better but learning how to use it properly comes from experience and is what Im supposed to learn in a training course.

We conducted our own internal investigation and contacted other students that participated in the course with Mr. ****** and found no merit to his fictious claim.  Here is the email that was sent to Mr. ****** on 05/15/2024:

"Dear Mr. ******************** you for reaching out to express your concerns regarding your experience in the Basic Rider Course (Event: MDROPH-BRC-******-1) held at the MD-Rosedale-********************

I am the Maryland State Program Coordinator for the Motorcycle Safety Academy, and your email has been forwarded to me for investigation and resolution. I appreciate your patience as I reviewed the details of your experience.

After speaking with the Rider Coaches and students from your class, I found no evidence of bias or unfair judgment by our staff. The decision to ask you to leave the class was based on repeated safety concerns and your inability to meet the course objectives. These included riding off the prescribed path, not following directions, leaving the course without instruction, covering the front brake, and struggling with clutch/throttle control. These issues posed significant safety risks to you and other students.

Our curriculum is designed with stringent safety measures that are crucial in motorcycling. Instructors provide multiple opportunities for students to self-correct and continue. However, when safety becomes a concern due to repeated actions, a decision must be made to ensure the well-being of all participants. This protocol was followed in your case.

Additionally, I spoke with another student who was asked to leave for similar safety concerns. This student appreciated the professionalism and concern shown by our instructors in preventing potential accidents.

Regarding your allegations of racial bias, I found no supporting evidence. Your class was diverse, and other students reported positive interactions with the staff and did not perceive any bias. Their accounts were consistent and highlighted a positive learning environment.

You were aware of the course requirements, agreed to our Terms and Conditions, and received proper notification outlining the specifics. You participated in one full day and a partial day of in-person training and did not provide the required forty-eight (48) hour notice before the start of the course. Consequently, per our policy, no refund or rescheduling will be provided.

I regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, but after careful review, I find no basis to issue a refund or additional damages. I hope you understand that these decisions are made with the safety of all participants in mind.

      Thank you for your understanding."
