I contacted this business about adopting a dog early last Sunday. They have no physical address or phone but drive up to Frederick ** Petco once a month which is the address on the form. They drive up from the state of ********. They gave me the run around regarding the dog I wanted named ****. They had her listed on the site as a male labradoodle when she was a female. ALSO they listed her as a labradoodle and no way was this dog a labradoodle. I gave them excellent references and my vet info for my two cats. One cat is elderly and was getting her rabies shot this week. Both my cats are indoor since adoption and never go out. I feel that they discriminated against me because I am 62 years old. They charge $500 a dog and list them as purebreds when they are not. I really wanted this puppy even though it was not the breed they listed and would have given it the best life ever. I am 62 but in excellent health. ****** ******** is a nasty individual. Why is this business allowed to come up from the state of ******** all the way to ******** to sell dogs. They are a shady business and then they discriminate. I will be reporting them to other agencies as well.

Ms. ***** contacted the Rescue, Bourbon County Rescue, a Non-profit, 501c3, to adopt a puppy.  She was quickly sent our application, with a cover letter and 2 pages of Frequently Asked Questions.  Our address was supplied in the Frequently Asked Questions, so she had that from our first communication. It is also stated in that information that submitting an application does not guarantee anyone will be approved to adopt.  That is at the discretion of the Rescue/Adoption Committee.  The *************** of other pets in the home are a big part of that decision, and Ms. ******* pets were not up-to-date with their Vet care.  We follow the Guidelines of the *************************. for wellness ********* this was lacking in this case.. The application was never completed, and the puppy was adopted to another approved application, having had multiple offers of a home. We do NOT guarantee the breeding of the pets, but in this case we were supplied pictures of both mother and father besides the word/information from the Breeder who surrendered the puppy to the Rescue.  But again, we do not guarantee the breeding and did not list the puppy as a purebred.  As far as I know a Labradoodle is NOT a purebred anyway, but a mix of 2 breeds.  Ms. ******* age had nothing to do with the decision to not adopt to her.   In fact, her age was not even listed on the application.  We have adopted many pets to adopters, even into their 80's.  This can be verified easily, if needed.   Age is a consideration when making decisions, but no one is discriminated again. I am ****** ********, who communicated with Ms. ************ I have the email communications between us, if needed.  I tried to reply quickly and in a responsible professional manner.  I did not feel I was being nasty, as she stated.   In the end, it's about finding the best home for the pet, which sometimes leads to an unhappy or disappointed applicant.--****** ********, Volunteer, Bourbon County Rescue

I am rejecting this response because:

I did complete an application. It was not incomplete. Also only one cat was not up to date and was scheduled for a visit that week as I told this woman. Then she ghosted me and told me her team (her and her husband lol) would get back to me. I have spoken to other potential adopters who were rejected, strung along for a month, etc with no response. It was decided amongst us that this place has shady practices. I have posted my reviews on websites to warn others of this place. This is why people have to go to puppy ***** to purchase a dog. All animals deserve a good home. It was noted in some reviews that ****** ***** sick animals to the public. So I find it strange that she believes one of my cats who was scheduled for her shots did not meet the requirement to adopt.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *****
