I placed an order for two rings on their M. Barr Antiques website. The order processed successfully with my payment on my end. I received an email stating my order was refunded without any reason for the refund. I tried to call the company and they only communicate by email. I reached out the them to find out why it was canceled. I was told that the order did not meet their "qualifications" and they could not give me any information. I continued the communication and after many emails I was told that is was a security of the transaction that did not pass their security metrics. The company should have reached out to me to verify that I purchased the items instead of just canceling the order. They need a better fraud checking metrics. **************** should be top priority and it was not in my case. This was my first purchase directly from the company. The resolution would be for the order that I placed to be processed on my method of payment and the items delivered to me.

They sell coins online and charge Louisiana sales tax. Coins under $1000 are not subject to Louisiana sales tax.
They are ignoring my request for a refund of Louisiana sales tax they collected (multiple times).

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/02) */
The customer has purchased from us through the 3rd-party ecommerce auction website PropertyRoom.com, which assesses and collects tax and payment completely without our involvement. Furthermore, the customer has never contacted us about sales tax. He must think us and PropertyRoom.com are the same business.

      Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
      I am checking with PropertyRoom.com.

      Business Response /* (4000, 17, 2022/10/17) */
You can contact PropertyRoom.com at (240) 751-9123 for any questions regarding how they assess and collect sales tax. We have zero involvement in the payment processing and sales tax assessment on this platform. All payment information is directly handled by PropertyRoom.com.

      Consumer Response /* (4200, 19, 2022/10/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
      M. Barr seeks to wash their hands re this matter, as if they have no control or input. They sell thousands of dollars of coins through PropertyRoom.com every day. What they should do is work with PropertyRoom.com to resolve this issue for me and all the rest of Louisiana purchasers who are getting ripped off.

      Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2022/10/19) */
It is not the responsibility of the seller to resolve sales tax issues on a purchase made with Property Room by the buyer. For more information on the sales tax policy on Property Room, this FAQ may be useful: https://help.propertyroom.com/support/solutions/************************************************

      Consumer Response /* (4200, 23, 2022/10/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have sent letter of complaint/request for sales tax refund to Property Room. We will see what they have to say.

M Barr is shirking their responsibility - they should be contacting Property Room.

      Business Response /* (4000, 25, 2022/10/25) */
As sales tax is determined based on the buyer's location nor do we have any involvement in its collection or assessment, it is not our responsibility to communicate with Property Room. The buyer assumes the burden of responsibility to ensure there is not an issue with their purchase involving Property Room policy and procedure.

      Consumer Response /* (4200, 27, 2022/10/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They are shirking their responsibility in this matter.

I am pursuing Property Room separately.
