    Back in Sept 2022 I called who I believed to be ******* (service that came with my pc) that my IP address was hacked. They put me in contact with ********* *********** (a cyber and web technology firm ************************) and a very nice guy supposedly proceeded to clean out my PC and gave me 6 months of follow up for 299.00 and advised me that I would need firewall to prevent this from happening in future. I paid for the cleanup with my Credit card. On Nov 16 2022 I received a follow up call asking if everything was still ok. I was at work and unable to talk further but she gave me number 415********* to call later which I did. I wasn't sure if everything was ok and wanted them to recheck. She put me in contact with someone claiming to be from ********* **** cyber security department. The person then logged into my pc and proceeded to show me that my IP was breached again, they showed me files that appeared extremely fishy with my name linked to some inappropriate web addresses. He then proceeded to try to sell me a firewall with lifetime protection for 899.00 and wanted me to pay by check made out to Trend Technology and mail it to ***** ******* *** *** ** in MD 21703. They requested proof by taking pic of the check which made me feel really uncomfortable. He was very reassuring, friendly, and insistent that he was there to help me, and since I was an existing customer, gave me good price. Reluctantly, I did this but I covered my bank and routing numbers. I called ********* at their service number back after my conversation with this dude and they told me that Trend Technologies was not ********* ***********, that they would never call me to follow up like that. Wow. I deal with scam calls all the time at work and can't believe I was duped like this. Needless to say, I won't be mailing them a check. I hope something can be done to prevent these malicious hackers from hurting other unsuspecting innocent people. That is why I am writing this complaint.
