    Petra Contractors:
We have used Petra Contractors for over 15 years. We first learned of the company when our insurance company recommended them for wind damage repair which the insurance company was going to cover. Petra has replaced damaged shutters, sidling, all exteriors' doors and frames, replaced French door which required cutting into the house (door was larger than the original one). They have painted the outside of the house twice. Outside lights were also replaced. Most recently (November 2023) replaced the entry door. The door ended up being custom made with sidelights with glass. The door is beautiful. So many have stopped by and commented on the door. Not only has all of the work been excellent, but it has also been monticules. The door insulation was outstanding. The inside of the house wall also had to be re-painted, and molding replaced. This is the only contractor we have used. We’re thinking of having a four-season room addition put on within the next two years. Please consider using this company.

The Petra team did a superior job on our kitchen remodel from the estimation and initial advice (Keith) about our kitchen project which included tearing down an entire wall thorough the last step of hooking up our ice maker for our refrigerator. It was a delight to work with Brad, our excellent project manager, and our wonderful team of professional builders and skilled craftsmen. Efficient and always on time, all subcontractors were friendly, helpful, and cleaned up after each day’s work. We could not be happier with the speed of the project and final results. Special thanks go out to Juan and his team for the tear down and beautiful carpentry, Hank with the plumbing, Steve’s creative HVC work, Jeff’s electrical work, and Absolute Kitchens for our lovely cabinets.
    Thank you, PETRA!

When we started this bathroom project with Petra the only thing we knew was we needed a bathroom. Though it took a while to get started, this company was worth the wait. Every single person that worked on this job the plumbers the carpenters, the electricians and floor finishers, the tile layers were absolutely professional, courteous and did a wonderful wonderful job. We are so happy with this new bathroom and living room. we would gladly and happily recommend Petra.

Called them on a referral for deck work. Sent an estimator for the deck, but the estimator also wanted to quote the roof work. I told the estimator that the roof replacement was going to another contractor. So based on that they decided not to send the deck quote.

It seems that there was a misunderstanding between Mr. C***** and our estimator. Our estimator did a site inspection to access the damage to the property from a fallen tree. The only damage our estimator saw was a few boards in a wooden walkway. I am assuming that Mr. C***** is referring to the wooden walkway as a deck. There was a conversation in reference to roof repairs, which my estimator did tell Mr. C***** that we also do that line of work but my estimator did not see any damage to the roof from his point of view so we were not planning on providing an estimate for the roof since no damage could be seen. Not providing a quote for the repairs to the wooden walkway had nothing to do with the roof. Our estimator did not see any damage to the roof so the roof wasn't even considered on our end. Our estimator did take pictures of the damage he did see which was to the wooden walkway. Due to previous conversations I had with Mr. C***** and the meeting our estimator had with Mr. C*****, we did choose not to provide a quote for the repairs to the walkway. Had Mr. C***** called us back to request the quote, we would have gladly supplied it. We did not feel that Mr. C***** was interested in using our services. I apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding and I sincerely hope that Mr. C***** was able to get his wooden walkway repaired.

Overall, my experience with Petra Contractor has shown that the time and effort invested in conducting due diligence reviews on contractors is a wise investment for avoiding risk with contractors.
An appointment was scheduled with Petra Contractors for December 14th between 1:00P-2:00P. Mr. Duane M***** arrived about 4:00P, several hours late, stating that he had driven by at the scheduled time, but that insurance the claims representatives were here, and he said he just drove on to his next two appointments, with his idea that he maybe would stop by “sometime towards the end of the day”. M***** never called to inform his anticipated late arrival, as if several hours late really did not matter to M***** one way or the other. Had M***** called I would have informed him that the insurance company indicated they had no issues with any contractor being on site at the same time. As explained to M*****, only one person was from the insurance company and that the second person was a roofing contractor estimator, there to assist the insurance company claims representative, Ms. G****. Ms. G**** explained that her employer did not allow her to access roofs.
M***** stated that he wanted to retrieve his ladder, access my roof and provide his own estimate, since a roof estimate can’t be done from ground level. As explained to M*****, Ms. G****’s roof contractor had already accessed my roof and provided the necessary estimate to Ms. G****. Thus, with M***** being several hours late without any notification, and with the roof estimate already completed by Ms. G****’s roof contractor, Petra’s roof estimate was no longer necessary.
M***** mentioned previous conversations with his manager (Cathy?) about the extent of contractor work already quoted. That competitors quote was already submitted to my insurance company and that work, although a smaller job, was already scheduled by the contractor, and at this writing has been completed. Further explained to M***** was that considering the contractor work already quoted and submitted, and since the roof work was no longer available to Petra, the remaining work available to Petra is replacement of a section of the wooden walkway that leads to the wooden deck. M*****’s response, he packed up at light speed and all but sprinted to his vehicle and drove away.
Petra has admitted to refusing to send the requested quote. Petra’s refusal to send the quote for replacement of a section of wooden walkway had EVERYTHING to do with the roof, and Petra can trumpet their false denials all they want, but it’s unfortunate that Petra spends that amount of time on these false denials that lead to customer dissatisfaction. That said, Petra’s false denials and Petra’s employee conduct were relevant in showing that there is significant risk in doing business with Petra.
Contractor performance records are available (using public domain information), and several of those previous Petra jobs showed customer dissatisfaction. Petra needs to understand that customers don’t submit these reviews just to occupy our time, we write these reviews because it’s necessary. It’s unfortunate that Petra has these misunderstandings with customers that lead to conflicts with their customers. My decision not to do business with Petra was just and fair and based on my review.
So, I end where I began. Overall, my experience with Petra Contractor has shown that the time and effort invested in conducting due diligence reviews on contractors is a wise investment for avoiding risk with contractors.
