    I paid the shipping of the prescribed medication to my mother, who is visiting ******, ***********, for the amount of $ ****** on 9/24/24. I was surprised to get a call from my family on 9/27 that delivery was held due to an unpaid shipping taxes amounting to $160.00. The shock of these unexpected charges was overwhelming. I was never informed about these taxes during the transaction, and the thought of having to pay an additional $160.00 on top of the initial $****** is a significant financial strain. I'm left wondering how these taxes are calculated, especially since the package contains prescribed medication, not a consumable good.When I contacted Fedex International to understand the reasons for the delay and the charges, their response left me feeling frustrated and powerless. They claimed to have no control over the government taxes, a fact that was not disclosed at the beginning of the transaction. This lack of control over the situation is particularly disheartening, as it means I am left to deal with these unexpected charges that could have been avoided had I been informed earlier. I feel deceived and let down by this lack of transparency.
