      The manager of Affordable Rental Property Management was contacted on more than one occasion, as well as at move in, about the unsafe locks on the front and back doors. The back door locks are in NOONE's possession, aside from the previously evicted tenants. When asked to please change the locks, I was shouted at, asked "oh, I guess you don't want to renew the lease", and told I was going to be hung up on repeatedly, when told I would like the locks changed at the landlord's expense. In short, for asking if I could live in a safe house (without incurring the expense myself) I was threated and spoken to very disrespectfully.

       When the tenant called and complained about the locks on the door, she got very rude with my secretary, so she put myself on the phone with the tenant.  Again she was very rude so I reminded her that rude people wouldn't have their lease renewed and that I would contact the owners about the locks.  Within 48 hours, I spoke with the owners and had approval to have new locks installed on both the front and back doors.  The locks were installed a few days later in a very timely manner.  I can't believe she even reported us.  This is the first time any tenant has ever reported us for anything.  I hope this matter is resolved here.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 21555637, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. While we have very different recollections of who was rude to whom, the locks were changed after 12 days. Clearly, I believe staying calm and asking for Mark to follow Maryland's laws regarding the tenant's safety was not well received. The issue was about the safety of where I was living; a problem which I had brought up on the walk-through, three months later and finally when I contacted the BBB. The locks were finally changed after contacting BBB so I do consider this matter settled and appreciated the BBB for helping us work through this issue.
