In June 2023 hired My Way Birth as a 35-week pregnant transfer to support a home birth. At the first office appointment, I paid the agreed-upon (adjusted) price for their services. This was a signed contract, which states that the birth fee covers many services, including postpartum visits for mother and baby, as well as birth certificate registration and information to submit to my insurance provider for reimbursement. The provider forgot home-visit appointments or equipment on multiple occasions and attempted to collect an additional fee for a midwifery assistant that was not communicated because she had no assistant at birth. I was flexible with her family emergency the week of my delivery. After the expeditious delivery of my baby, I was provided with the paperwork to complete my baby's birth registration, and after multiple attempts at reaching out, finally were told to wait 10 days before checking for his birth certificate. I waited ample time, and paid the $40 for Vital Check, just to be told by both the county and state that my baby's paperwork was never filed. I encountered issues when taking my newborn to a pediatrician because he was not screened properly and I have no access to his records. Furthermore, the person she outsourced to do my billing for my medical insurance took multiple weeks and more personal outreach attempts to check on the status. They said the claim was filed, yet there is no record of that being completed. I had to request a medical transfer in order to even be seen for myself at 6 weeks postpartum, and our attempts to obtain our medical records have fallen short since she did not provide the 3 postpartum home visits for myself or my baby, which is stated in the contract. I am also still receiving notices of invoices outside of the contract amount.
