  I reserved this moving company by phone about 3 weeks before my move on 12/2/22. I was moving 9 blocks. The representative on the phone estimated the move would take about 3.75 hours for a total cost of $680.00. On the day of the move I thought the two movers were taking an inordinate amount of time loading up the truck. Five and 3/4 hours into the move and before they had unloaded the truck they told me they had exceeded the estimate and now the move would cost $1000. When they finished unloading I spoke to the company owner and told her I was very annoyed. She gave me a $50 credit to appease me. While these two movers were stretching out the hours they also failed to remove some items from the second floor telling me they couldn't get them down the stairs, they didn't have the right tools to take them apart, etc. Thus I had to pay other movers at a later date to remove them. Moreover, as I unpacked, I found a moving box containing valuables was missing, which I reported to the police.

  The team leader was courteous and kept his word in being careful not to damage any walls, etc. However: 1. They dinged me on price; after giving an estimate of $489 they charged me over $700 as a "this is heavy" charge--as if they didn't know wood shelves were heavy when I described them over the phone, and, 2. One member of the team looked stoned the whole time, almost asleep on his feet. I commented to the lead and he said his partner hadn't slept for 3 days. Uhhh... either way, on drugs or unslept, he had no business on a job carrying things around where stuff could get hurt. I will warn people away from Hunks: double the price and unready movers. Risky stuff.
