I went to go get my car fixed for my control arm which was $900. After the owner of this shop was finished with my control arm he said I also needed brake Pads. I told him let me know if anything else needed to be fixed with my car. He never told me I Had a bad brake caliper. So the brand new brake pads he put on for 260 FELL OFF while I was driving 4 days later. I could have lost my life on the road literally. When I go to address to him about my broken pads he got aggressive with me, started to yell and push me out of the shop because he says hes not to blame. **** is his name and he is the owner. He called the cops on me because I wouldnt leave after he told me it wasnt his fault. He threatened to shoot me if I didnt leave. Just all around not how you do business. I just want my money back for the brakes and for this shop to be out of business.

      Business Response

This isnt quite how this situation went down.. this customer came in with his front wheel falling off due to negligence and needed a lower ball joint and axle replaced after his front wheel completely fell off while driving. We repaired this and upon the final test drive also found that he was negligent in dealing with the fact that his rear brakes were also grinding previous to his front wheel falling off. I notified him of this and he requested that I replace the pads only due to that being all he had money for due to the money owed on the ball joint and axle repair.

We replaced the rear brake pads as per his request and he picked the vehicle up after hours later that evening.

I received a call from him a week or two later telling me his rear brakes were grinding again at which time I explained to him that there must be an underlying caliper issue for the new brake pads to be grinding already one only one side and immediately gave him an appointment date so we could recheck for potential caliper problems.

This customer then called a few days to a week later to inform me that he would need to be towed because he had continued to drive it and now it was no longer safe to drive. Not sure why you would continue driving on grinding brakes for a week knowing there was clearly an issue but regardless this was where we were. He asked if I had a tow truck which I informed him we did not but gladly shared the tow company that we locally work with and their phone number. He asked if I was paying the tow which I informed him I would not be as we dont cover towing on any repairs or vehicles as most shops dont. I did however tell him that I would push through and honor a warranty on his pads and he would just be responsible for the towing and caliper. He didnt not like that answer and felt I should be paying for all of these items which i informed him that it doesnt work that way. He then told me he didnt want to pay for the caliper and wanted his brake pads only replaced which I informed him that he would continue to have the same issue if he didnt resolve the underlying caliper issue, he didnt care and said he wasnt paying any more.

I then completely went out of our normal policy and offered to give him a free set of brake pads after he claimed he could do it himself and save on the tow. He then hung up on me and our conversation after saying Ill let you know.

Now comes the day he showed up at my shop and walked into the service bays(which for insurance and safety reasons NO CUSTOMERS or unauthorized non-employees are allowed) and refused to leave the service bays while demanding that I will pay for his tow and repairs. I informed him that if he did not at least step out of the service bays then I would be forced to call the police(which I did eventually was forced to do). He refused to leave the shop while being hostile and insisting that I was responsible and needed to pay to fix all of the items on his brakes for free as well as cover the towing. I informed him repeatedly that this wasnt going to happen as he made the damage worse by driving around on it until the brake pads sheered off due to complete negligence rather then waiting for his scheduled appointment. I did eventually have to call the police to have him removed and after the police didnt tell him what he wanted to hear he quickly jumped in his car and ran off not receiving the outcome he was trying to bully his way into.

This customer not only made me and my employees feel threatened by his aggressive behavior and forcing his way into unauthorized areas of my business but then claimed I threatened to shoot him for his own pathetic agenda. In all reality, I also tried to de-escalate the situation and asked him if I was willing to pay to tow his car in and for the brake pads would he be willing to pay for the bad caliper and he refused. So in reality I will not help anyone thats unwilling to listen and understand common sense and tried to intimidate and bully me or my employees into paying for their poor decisions and choices. The truth of the matter is even the Brake Pads wouldnt be covered by the manufacturer under warranty since its due to a failure of another component but from the beginning I was willing to take a loss in order to help this customer, right up until he forced his way into my business and refused to stop following me into my facility until the police needed to be called to make him leave.
