    On 4/24/24 SCN Accounting and Tax Services prepared taxes and failed to roll over my IRA and added as income. This has cost me thousands of dollars and still in process of repairing. SCN Accounting did not offer any support on how to go about the situation. I have spend countless hours on the phone with the IRS trying to resolve the penalties that should not have taken place. On behalf of this error I would not want anyone to have to go through this. Asking that SCN Accounting be held accountable for their mistake?

    Hello,

    I am very surprised to see this complain from Ms. *******. She came to us to prepare her 2022 tax return in March 2024. The return was prepared and one of the documents that she provided was a 1099-R. The 1099-R form stated that Ms ******* received an early distribution from her retirement account. Therefore, it was considered income. Ms. ******* was not happy because the new old and new investment companies did not tell her it would be income.  I explained to Ms. ******* that normally to avoid taxable income the investment companies would rollover the funds so that it doesn't touch the taxpayers hands. Later, Ms. ******* found a deposit that showed that she deposited the funds into another retirement account and asked that we amend the return. I advised her that it's up to IRS to accept this since its not a direct rollover. We prepared the amended return and mailed to IRS and Maryland free of charge on 4/25/2024. 

    In December 2024, Ms. ******* came to the office to drop off an IRS notice stating that they approved the amended return and were issuing her a refund.  She also provided a notice from Maryland saying she owes money. I left a message and explained to Ms. ******* that it appears that Maryland has not processed the amended return and that is why they still show that she owes. She needs to reach out to them to determine when they will process the amended return that was submitted.  

    Ms. ******* has not contacted me directly to tell me that she is still having issues and am surprised she filed this complaint since we have always tried to help.
