Date of incident: 07/18/2024 Incident: I brought my car in on Friday July 12th for an appointment to get my AC fixed. When I pick up the car Monday July 15th, the engine is misfiring and the Service Engine Light is blinking on and off. Neither of these issues were happening before taking my car to the shop. I call them Tuesday morning July 16th to tell them the issue. They said the issue did not occur at the shop. I ask them if I can bring it in to get looked at and they agree. I drop the car off Tuesday July 16th at around noon with the agreement that they'd look at it that day. I received no calls Tuesday or Wednesday. I call Wednesday after I get off work and ask if there's an update. They said no update, they haven't been able to see it yet. I tell them I need to pick the car up tomorrow for work and they agree. My girlfriend calls the morning of July 18th and says we'll be paying for the AC and the diagnostic but we'd like to tow out of the shop. I arrive at 11am to pay for the car and set up a tow. Owner John ****** tells me that they repaired the misfire issue and tells me it'll be $580~ for that repair+the AC repair. I disputed the charge for the repair since we never received an estimate or gave authorization for it. The owner John ****** proceeds to verbally ***** me, telling me I'm an idiot and telling me to get out of the shop for refusing to pay. He tells me the car is his now and he will hold onto it for as long as he wants. He continues to verbally ***** me until I agree to pay for the repairs. He then tells me he won't accept my credit card and demands I pay in cash. I pay in cash. As far as I'm aware they need to send us an estimate for repairs over 50$ and they need our authorization. We neither received an estimate for the misfire repair nor authorized the repair. I added my final bill that I paid with cash and the only estimate we received, which we received before the misfire issue was found and doesn't mention the cause of the misfire issue.
