    I have been a customer of **************************************************************** and ******************************************* for over 5 years, using both their dry cleaning and tailoring services. I took a patchwork patterned skirt to them for alteration of the hemline. When I picked up my skirt on 7/25/23, I was appalled to see that the hem was extremely crooked and looked like the alteration was done by a novice and not an expert. Additionally, I pointed out the hole in the hemline that the owner/seamstress created on the front of the skirt from where she pulled out some stitching. She denied making the hole and claimed the hole was already there. However, she cut off approximately 2 inches from the length of the skirt, thus the hole would have been visible in the front of the skirt prior to her alteration. There was no hole in the body of the skirt when I left it with her. The skirt was brand new, never worn, and purchased from *********************. ********************* is not in the habit of selling defective merchandise. I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested that she refund me the cost of the alteration for $35.00, but she refused. She told me that the job was difficult. If the job was too difficult, she should not have taken on the task. I told the owner that I would be filing a formal complaint, but she did not care. Nor did she care that she would lose a loyal customer and hundreds of dollars in revenue over an alteration fee. I took the skirt to another seamstress in a very reputable department store to see if it could be salvaged. They too agreed that the workmanship was poor. And because she cut so much of the fabric on the skirt, there was not much wiggle room for a new hem. They also indicated that if they raised the hem to cover the hole, the bottom button on the skirt would be very close to the hem, making it look ill-placed. Because she ruined the integrity of the skirt, I am now requesting the replacement value of the skirt for $104.93 in addition to the alteration fees.
