BEWARE of this contractor, but if you dont mind HIDDEN CHARGES then proceed. I hired ***** for a waterproofing job on 8/16/24. Initially, he was nice and even provided details on how I could secure financing from a bank for the job (almost $5000!), as well as a $500 discount. On the day the repairs were supposed to begin, he called to tell me that I needed to pay an additional $500, so the ******* can replace the wall and flooring after the job. The same $500 that was supposed to be a discount! yep, he took it back. I paid the additional $500, just so we could remain cordial and he gets the job done. When the repairs started, he told me it would start at 9am and end at 4-5pm on the same day, however, that was entirely FALSE. The repair took 2 days, in which he kept hounding me to call the bank to release the funds from the LOAN I took out for this repairs, and while the job was still NOT COMPLETED! On the second day, he reached out to me that the job was completed, however, what he didnt mention is that there was a gaping HOLE in the ground which he refused to cover unless I paid an additional $450! This is a total of $950 ADDITIONAL besides the initial cost of the job! This is where I drew the line on being EXPLOITED. So, I had to get someone else to complete a job that I paid thousands of dollars for to Presto Construction LLC!Business Response

This customer was made aware that the removal of drywall and flooring was not included in her estimate before we started. Upon the start of the job her tenant was unhappy that the landlord did not arrange for the put back of drywall and flooring for her. We decided to help the customer by returning the drywall and flooring at an agreed upon price of $500 and proceeded. We finished the job exactly as what was explained and the tenant was unhappy that the sump pump cover was exposed and wanted the sump pump to now be boxed in to cover the appearance of the sump pump. The owner then contacted us and asked us to do her a favor and do the work for free and she would leave us an amazing positive review because she was so happy with the work but needed to make her tenant happy and she just did not have any money left. I proposed that we could do the box out of the sump pump for what the cost of material and labor would be and the owner declined. Now I believe this negative review is a retaliation of is not doing free work for her in return for a positive review. We always stand by our price and our work is always top of the line. We apologize we could not provide a free service for work that was never contracted or discussed. Again we appreciate all our customers comments and hope the other review will reflect on our integrity and company. We also have a copy of the text message this owner sent that shows she asked for free work in return for the positive review. (We are trying to get **** to upload our text message records to show, but if any customer has any questions we would be happy to provide.)Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received a response to my email, text message or telephone number. If what the business says is true, show the proof that they have tried to contact me. A simple response to my email would have been proof that the business tried to contact me. I have provided proof that I tried to contact them.
Sincerely,
***** *******Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I do not see any proof that the business reached out to me at all. It is unfortunate that what I thought was a good business relationship has resulted in a back-and-forth unproductive communication process. When I first met this business, I thought it was a business that I was going to use in the future. I spoke to the workers and told them that I wanted to use this business to expand the drainage across the driveway and reconstruct my complete driveway and the portion in front of my house that extends into the street. I am glad that I found out how this business operates before, I hired it for my two next major projects which will start in a few weeks.
Sincerely,
***** *******Initial Complaint

On May 7th, 2022, I spoke with Jason ******** who is the CEO/Director of operations of Presto Construction to have a cement apron done for my driveway with the agreement of $3,000.00 for the cost. He did not state he would not be including the permit amount or getting the permit for this to be done. I had to go get the permit myself with the cost of $115.00 after he had already started the job when I was presented with papers that the permit was not done. then after they finished the apron and waiting the permit to arrive, and I called about the permit to see when I would receive it. the permit office informed me that the apron minimum was 10 feet long and was done at 8 feet and I would not receive the permit until it was done by code. During that time, I contacted Mr. ******** about the situation and waiting they did come back out to fix it and they had to redo the whole apron again to meet the regulations per the permit office. then I contacted the permit office again to let them know it was completed and they sent someone out again to inspect it again and was then told there was something not right with the curb to the apron Mr. ******** had his Forman Carlos meet with Keith from there permit department at my house to discuss what needed to be fixed with the curb and that took place on Monday June 20th, 2022.
it is now august 15th, 2022 and with numerous calls, voicemails, or text messages Mr. ******** has yet to return my calls voicemail or text to go over plan of action! whenever I call goes straight to voicemail which it has me believing at this point he is ignoring me, the paid in full customer and not finishing the job correctly he started which is keeping me from getting the permit for which I paid for and unable to have my driveway finished so I can use it properly! At this point I either want Mr. ******** to come finish what is entitled and up to code per the permit office or a full refund!!!Business Response

We contracted with this customer and obtaining a permit falls in the home owners responsibility. We performed the work as stated and to the home owners satisfaction. Home owners neighbors who he has been fighting with for months then contacted the police and city to report him. Even though we had no responsibility to come back out and work with the city inspector we did and broke the entire cement bib and re poured to the inspector requirements. Then the customer contacts us again saying the inspector needs something changed again and the cement needs to be broken and re poured. The customer was unwilling to pay for any additional work and per our legal requirement we were done.Customer Answer

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
the moral of this process was to have an apron bib done so that I could have a driveway put in for my personal us. Mr. ******** did not inform me that the permit would fall under my responsibility, but I went ahead and took care of it after the fact and yes, my neighbor causing more problems than needed and for reasons that are very much unknown. Mr. ******** informed his foreman Carlos to do the apron at 8' feet, in which I learned from the permit department that the minimum is 10' feet. so, at that time Mr. ******** had to tear up the job and make the apron bib 10'feet per code from the permit department. The permit department would not release my permit to me until the job was up to code. The curb and the apron should be done in two separate pieces and was done as one hole piece, again per the permit department who still will not release my permit to me that I paid in full myself to have this done. During this time, I have tried multiple times to call and leave messages to Mr. ******** about what needed to be fixed yet again with no response. all I am asking to be done is the apron bib done correctly and to code with the permit department so I can have the permit release to me and move forward. I do not feel it is within my fault this was not done correctly and should have to pay any additional fees or payments to Mr. ******** because if it was done correctly in the place, none of this would not be taking place now....Business Response

The customer agreed to the terms of the contract and never mentioned a permit or requested one. We completed the project as per the agreement and went back and attempted to correct the customers mistake by helping to get his permit issued. We will not perform any further work that was not originally contracted for without additional payment and have fully fulfilled our legal obligations. Again we are done with this project and the customers lack of knowledge is not a valid excuse for free work. Once again all work was completed as per agreement and no further work will be done.
