BBB is unable to locate the business.
On October 8, 2023, I took several consigned items to this business. After a dispute with the owner, I went to the shop to retrieve my unsold items. I couldn't locate my rectangle rug. A staff member pointed to an area where she believed the rug to be located. I still didn't see it until I looked around and to my disbelief, I was standing on the rug. When I took the rug to this shop, it was in brand new condition, rolled up and taped. It had never been used by me, it was the wrong color. So the owner unwrapped my rug, put it on the floor for use by the business. It had no price tag on it so no one would realize it was actually for sale and in any event, who would buy a matted, dirty, used rug. If the owner had purchased this rug for use, that's one thing, but basically she stole my rug. There were other rugs for sale in the store and they were all nicely rolled and leaning against a wall, not unwrapped with people trampling on it. I attempted to resolve this with the owner via email and her response was that I was being petty, I should not email her further and I should learn how to read contracts because the contract states the business is not responsible for damaged goods. This isn't where someone accidentally spilled something, etc., this is theft--taking my item without paying for it for use in the shop. I believe I am entitled to be monateraly compensated for the price of my rug. I have attached photos of the rug in the condition in which I left it at the shop, and then some "after" pictures. These photos do not clearly show the amount of dirt, matting and fading. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any help in the resolution of this matter.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/25/2023

Ms. ***** has consigned with me for a while. The last time she brought items in to consign, with her friend who also consigns with me, we didn't accept some of her items. Both ladies proceeded to slander my business and talk inappropriately to my staff, immediately after. They then, both wrote a ****** review and a bad rating. Some time went by; they BOTH emailed Peach Bottom Consignment asking what season we were taking. I explained to both of them that I don't think we're the right "fit" for them and asked them to no longer bring Consignments in. This infuriated them and they demanded their balance and Ms. ***** wanted anything back that didn't sell. Upon picking up balances and items, Ms ***** saw her rug, displayed on the floor. It had come in, rolled inside out and no picture of the rug, wrapped in saran wrap. We laid the rug out TO ATTEMPT TO SELL IT, as we do with MANY other rugs. To me, this was a petty response to something they were mad about.

I would like no further correspondence regarding this matter. Quite frankly, it's absurd, and a waste of my time and the time of the BBB system.

I am rejecting this response because:  What sort of response is this supposed to be?  She does not address any of the issues I brought up because she knows I am correct.  She has to resort to name calling and deflection from the crux of the matter which is that this thief stole my property and now doesn't wish to hear from me and thinks this is absurd. What is absurd is that this insecure petty thief cannot accept the fact that I left her business a negative review and she is the one who has escalated matters to this level by refusing to be a competent business owner.  You have chosen the wrong hill to die on, Madam ******

    Sincerely,

    ******* *****
