      After 6 weeks (late Oct/early Nov), over 25 calls to Kaiser, plus over 25 calls to Byrum medical supplier, plus at least 6 or 7 calls to Medicare has not resolved the issue of providing me a continuous gluclose monitoring (CGM) device that my provider at Kaiser has prescribed after an A1C of 12.1 in a blood test. No matter what Kaiser sends to Byrum to be able to file with Medicare, Byrum has cancelled the order/request at least 7 times and requested the chart notes and prescription over and over and over (sent by Kaiser at least 3 times). Medicare has suggested using a different medical supplier as plenty in the Washington, DC area can provide but Kaiser says Byrum must be used as they have a contract with Byrum. The DME section of Kaiser plus folks in the Kaiser membersship division have repeatedly called Byrum on my behalf to no avail. It seems that Kaiser cannot hold Byrum accountable to get this done or resolved and thus even though this is medically though to be good for me and approved by my Kaiser doctor and Kaiser's Diabetes Management case worker for me (along with the VA), the medical equipment and diabetes supplier (Byrum) continues to delay and deny submitting this to Medicare or resolving the issue. Now, 2024 deductibles by Kaiser and Medicare may further complicate the issue when it is basically a 2023 issue unresolved. What is really sad is that if I were not Medicare, I would have had the CGM device the 2nd week of November 2023. Kaiser is an 800 pound gorilla in the DC area medical community but they allow this to be unresolved and cannot seem to get it accomplished or hold this supplier accountable.

      If my doctor told me, I had the choice of a terminal illness or choosing Kaiser to treat me for it. I would choose death. I have been trying to get my hip replaced for over five months now the bureaucracy at Kaiser is ridiculous. There’s never anyone available by phone, no one ever calls you back and once you do get someone on the phone, they will transfer you an average of four times before getting you to the correct person. Then, that person says they will call you back and they don’t. I finally had hip replacement surgery on Monday, 619. I called Wednesday morning 621 to refill my pain medicine. It is now Friday 623 and I still don’t have a prescription for pain medicine only a select few of their pharmacies are open on the weekend, so now I will have to find someone to drive from Kensington to Gaithersburg to pick up my prescription if it’s even ready. The kensington Pharmacy is located approximately 1 1/2 miles from my house. The Gaithersburg pharmacy is about 10 miles. I filed a client complaint with the president of Kaiser mid Atlantic regarding a different problem and she was really a little use.
