      All samples for our clients are sent to a certified laboratory for confirmation testing and reviewed by a certified medical review office before they are reported to any employer. Any metabolites detected by the laboratory are reviewed by a physician (the medical review officer) who contacts the donor to obtain any medical information the donor can provide that would result in a medically legitimate explanation for a metabolite detected. If the donor is unable to provide a medically legitimate explanation the sample is reported positive. If the donor wishes the challenge the results, they can have their same sample retested at a second certified laboratory. Also per Maryland law ; any donor reported as positive to their employer is provided with a copy of their laboratory report (signed by the certifying scientist) as well as a written copy of the procedure to have the sample re-tested at another certified laboratory.
