      I recently responded to search while apartment searching. Using ******.com to help facilitate the search, I pay a fee of $29.00 to do a background and credit check. I applied to an apartment listing from Provision RPM, and scheduled a tour of the living area. I was told by the property manager that the living space was over 700 square feet. It was not even close to that, I also asked if they would accept the background and credit report from ******.com, where the property was listed? The proerty manager told me no, and directed me to fill out a totally different credit check on their website, for an additional fee of $45. I serched other rental for their appliacation fees, I found that all of the rest of the rental lisrings one, accepted the ******.com application/background check, or two the fees were only $20-$25 to apply. I went through the process of filling out the Provision RPM credit/background check, and paid the fee. The initial deposit for the rental was $775, I was called today and was told that the deposit would be double what was initially discussed. I feel this is predatory, seeing as though I wanted to move in by the first of this month 02012023. I explaned to the property manager that was not finacially possible on my part. His response was "okay, well good luck out there". I would like an investigation into their business practices, and a possible refund.

      We did process an application for residence for an apartment we had listed for rent for Mr ******* ******. As with all our applicants we require them to fill out our in house application to determine eligibility and ability to pay rent. Upon reviewing the application we found some deficiencies in the application that made us worried about ability to pay rent. It is standard practice in this case to discuss with the applicant paying an increase security deposit to help satisfy our concern with ones ability to pay rent. When we presented that as an option to secure the unit the applicant denied those terms, so we in turn denied the application.

      That was not the initial fee, I've checked my own credit reports. Thier aren't any negative accounts on my report, no where in my reports has it stated I was ever evicted or failed to pay.

      So we based our determination on two main factors.

      One being that the credit report that was provided to us from Transunion showed that ******* had no credit history, and there were possible fraud indicators. 

      Also, and mainly, on his application he indicated he was currently residing with family (mother). In all cases were there is not sufficient proof of an outside private landlord we will ask for an increased security deposit to hedge the risk of being the first private landlord after living with family. 

      However, with all things considered I am not opposed to refunding the application fee to settle this matter.
