Homelife installed new vinyl siding on our home. Upon removing the existing siding they discovered a non structural backer board. The sales rep stated that we did not need to install plywood because the existing board was better than plywood and would last forever.
It wasn’t long before siding starting bowing, wrinkling and falling off. The subcontractor sent out by homelife stated that the nails are not into the studs and this is the cause of the siding distortion and falling off. He recommended to remove all of the siding, mark the studs and reinstall. He mentioned that it’s a lot of work and homelife is most likely not going to authorize it that perhaps I’d be willing to accept a payout. I refused and reminded him that I just want my siding fixed. Guys were sent out to fix a portion that fell off and the repair consisted of running interior nails through the face of the siding.
My windows have leaked since the new siding was installed and homelife has sent 3 subcontractors out that all have said my windows are leaking because they are not sealed properly. I also have a breeze through my house that the subcontractor also stated was due to the improperly sealed windows and open corners.
I’ve asked numerous times to please fix the leakage because it has cause damage to the inside of my home. Almost a year later and the windows are still not sealed and are still leaking. Every time homelife sends a subcontractor they say they’ll be back and never return. I have numerous pieces of siding that are not secured and bulging off the wall. I have a piece that fell off and broke that still hasn’t been repaired. The siding on my driveway was installed above the foundation allowing me to see outside from my basement. Every subcontractor says it was installed wrong but there isn’t much they can do about it at this point. The metal trim on the roof is also still incomplete. The subcontractors have told me that the president Ed has instructed them “not to talk too much” therefore even though I have camera footage of them telling me what’s wrong the president Ed denies them saying it and somehow tries to turn it around on me. I’ve asked numerous times for Ed to come take a look to see what I’m dealing with and every time he refuses. Homelife’s subcontractors have called the installer a “stupid guy” and says that even the trim is wrong. I’ve hired other contractors to come look and they pointed out problems with the improper direction of laps, location of laps and numerous other issues. I’ve reached out to the manufacturer *********** and they recommended having one of their credentialed installers evaluate the situation as Homelife does not hold any credentialing with the manufacturer therefore they do not honor the warranty. The project manager Artie sends me to speak with the president Ed Chmar but Ed will only communicate via email and is everything but responsive. I do not seek money I just want my siding installed properly. I’m also in the process of filling s a complaint with the MHIC commission as well as seeking legal representation. Ed knows my contact information. I hope he chooses to do the right thing because this has been exhausting.

We have been in contact with Mr. ***** since the installation.  I hired an independent contractor to assess the work which was performed this morning. Mr. ***** is aware of this.  I am waiting for the report and will contact Mr. ***** as soon as  I have it.

the project manager from Homelife Artie did walk the site with another contractor named Josh today. The project manager Artie did call to follow up after. I was told a report would be submitted to Ed and then I’d be contacted with the plan moving forward. I’m very happy that a homelife representative finally came to lay eyes on the issues themself instead of an outside contractor. I’m confident that we will be able to move in the correct direction now. I will update once the report it’s processed and the plan is presented.

Homelife sent an independent siding specialist out. After Homelife had received the report Ed had reached out and sincerely apologized. He wished he was made aware of the situation sooner.
He  sent a crew out today to remove and reinstall new siding. They are doing a phenomenal job and the siding looks great. I thank Ed and Homelife for coming out and taking care of us.

BBB is unable to locate the business.
It all started in 2018 when HomeLife Remodeling installed my new roof.
After roof was installed it started leaking through my upstairs addition. They sent someone out to patch it up. It continued leaking and they continued to patch it up.
Then last year 2021 my roof started leaking downstairs in my living room in the front of the house and the kitchen in the back of the house. Again, they came out and patched it.
At that point I asked for a new roof because they obviously put this one one wrong. In which they declined and just kept sending out someone to patch. Its now 2022 and my kitchen roof is leaking again. I filed a claim with my insurance but would like HomeLife held accountable for the water damage to the inside of my house. At this point I am afraid to even have them install a new roof since they did such a crappy job with this one. Before I got this roof in 2018 I had no issues with leaking anywhere in my house. I would love to have a full refund of my roof if possible plus damages.
