I have two little ones going to the Goddard School of Urbana in Maryland. While the teachers are good, the amount they charge is ridiculous. It's very expensive and it's increases each year! It's $2400 for little ones under 2 years and $2000 for kids over 2 years. This is only during the school year. Not to mention the number of days off they take. We still have to pay for those days. Also, they have snack calendars for each month and day but most of the days they give them just cheerios. They don't even follow that. It's not like they are doing extraordinary activities with them to justify that amount they charge. And I found out the teachers don't even get paid well. The teachers get less than $20/hr! For summer camp, prices are even higher! They also tack on activity fees $55/week on top of the insane amount they charge! For 20 kids in class, that's another $1100 per week! Someone needs to investigate this location because if they don't pay their teachers well, they don't do extraordinary activities, and they increase prices each year, where is all the money going? I understand they might have to pay for the using the location, utilities, fees, but I doubt it's so much that they charge parents this insane amount. Especially at a time where back to work is mandatory, inflation is high, we are living paycheck to paycheck. Government is enforcing women and families to have kids, work onsite without appropriate compensation, people should know the reality of childcare. And yes, the teachers at Goddard are good at what they do. But they are not getting paid enough. If they were getting paid well, I would be fine with this. But something is wrong here and needs to be investigated. I will be trying to reach out to other local entities asking them for the same.
