    Brief: Eval after 7/14/23 install. New ********** ductless whole house system. From day one after install, system will not cool living/dining area less than 70/72 degrees regardless of outside temp (upper 70s-80s). I've been after MC regarding almost constantly (see attached emails). They added insulation to liv/dining room ceiling units 7/25/2023. This Bought only ~2 degrees reduction in room temp. Sent them daily temp data (see excel attached). I offered to buy next higher BTU rated indoor unit for living room to solve issue. They declined. MC said outdoor compressor too small to accommodate. So, either they installed too small compressor or too small evaporator for needed cooling.
    Submitted details to Maryland DOPL on 10/6/23 (still waiting on response from them):
    I have to date, paid Modern Comfort ~$16k. Will pay rest owed (total charged was $24k) IF they effect requested /required upgrade to the outdoor compressor and/or indoor ceiling evaporator. Detailed emails and data available upon request.

    I have been with Modern Comfort since 2008 but lately I get the impression that they are trying to push their older customers out to get new customers at a higher price. I ran out of oil for the first time over a year ago (with below freezing temperatures) and could not get a refill until I paid close to $400 to get my tank filled. Then I get two budget price quotes for the new year, naturally the higher cost applied to me. Then this winter we get that letter to lower our temperature to save oil, which was promptly followed by another letter suggesting we switch to a propane system. Now, the budget price quotes for this year have gone mia only to have my price go up by $20.00 two months after the new year started. "Oh, we didn't get the budget quotes sent out yet," was the response. Even better, I have a credit of a few hundred dollars on my account. Does this sound like a company who wants to keep their customer?

    I’ve had ongoing problems with mini-splits installed by Modern Comfort almost from the start of installation. It’s been the same issue each time. This last repair they replaced the copper piping that was causing the issue for a whopping charge of $2,500. I complained as I believe they never repaired correctly while under warranty. Now they claim the material was never under warranty and they could only give me $250 off the bill. In fact the material they used is from a company that now has a class action suit against them and I could join that suit. What a solution! Maybe they should join the suit and help their customers. I will never use or recommend them.

    Hello. I spoke with Ms. **** on 7/6/23 from 4:00 PM. she expressed her concerns to me about a leak in the system and ongoing service calls to her home. She has since sold the house and said the issues have been rectified as the repairs were made. I informed her i would do some investigative work on her account and assured her that i would make a financial adjustment to her account. The company had issued a $250 credit but i assured her that i would do better than this for her since she had some ongoing issues. To my knowledge- there is no class action lawsuits against the vendor or manufacturer

    Unfortunately I have not heard back from this gentleman with a solution to my issue.

    Customers deserve more than what this company provides. They cancelled our service visit twice, and lied about it the second time. After the first cancellation, we had to wait over a month until the rescheduled visit was supposed to happen. The day of the second visit after the technicians were already late, the nasty receptionist stated that they were "definitely still coming," but never showed. Furthermore, a year ago they came to troubleshoot a faulty Lennox thermostat they sold us previously because it was not working properly, but instead fried the electronics and told us we needed to purchase a new $450 thermostat from them. No way! Bought a new ****** thermostat for a fraction of that and it works much better.

    Do yourself a favor and choose one of the many other reputable HVAC businesses in this area.
