Contracted to replace an exterior landing and staircase on second floor of 2 family home and replace chimney cap. Agreed to price $6010 and date. Contractor knew I was coming from out of state the day of construction. He asked for $3000 down . I sent a check for $3050. I didnt realize in ***** they can only ask for 1/3 down. The agreed upon date was June 19, 2023. He told me his crew would be there at 8am and he would be there shortly and it could be done in one day and possible a few hours the next day. He had not arrived at 8am. I texted at 9am. I called at 9:30am and he said he was getting material and would be there shortly. Wanted to know why I was calling him, became combative and arrogant, told me I was wasting his time. He didnt want to do the job and would give me a portion of their deposit back. I told him he wasted my time as I had travelled from MA this morning and he knew that. He hung up on me and called back shortly. It got heated again and he hung up again. I called him back, he told me I was harassing him, he wasnt giving me my money back, there was nothing I could do about it, take him to court.
