I hired Richard to do a drywall project at a new cabin, 500sq ft only. I paid him extra to put up strapping on the ceiling the first day. He told me he could do the job in 4 days, but with the strapping I planned on 5. After 6 days of working random hours, a few days only 3-4 hours per day, he took day 7 off to let mud dry. At that point there were so many areas still not mudded, he had barely even started the bathroom. He told me he would be back Mon, no show. Texted he would be on Tue, no show. He texted me Tue night and told me he would be finishing up Wedn and gave me a final amount 450 more than original price. When I questioned this he said it was for supplies he picked up and he had receipts. He showed up Wedn and told me he would be finished that day. I had been paying him cash every day, splitting the amounts up over the total amount he gave me for the job. I went down to let him know I had a doctors appt and gave him the final amount he had told me. I noticed he was mudding in the bathroom and asked him if he was still going to be done that day and he said yes. I trusted him and left for my appt. 1 1/2 hours when I came back he had taken his tools and left. The mess he left behind was unbelievable and the absolute poor quality work became very apparent. The bathroom was completely unfinished! Large chunks of mud stuck on the walls, seams completely with no mud, no sanding done at all. As I looked around more I found 100s of mistakes. Large lines on the ceilings that were never sanded. Every seam at the ceiling line had the lines of the tape showing. Every corner in the house had a small hole where there was nothing, no tape, no mud, just a hole. I contacted him about the job being unfinished and he ignored my texts. He then text and said he would send the amount but never did. Now I have to go through taking him to small claims court. Hi is unreliable, dishonest, and the drywall that he did do is horrible!! He is the opposite of a professional!!
