I advise any black woman considering Rhona Beauty to look elsewhere where. I got a service from this business in 2022. It was an unforgettable experience and not in a good way. The owner did my hair. I provided my own braiding hair, made sure to ask the owner many questions about whether my hair was good for her to braid on. Even set up a prior appointment for her to see what my hair looked like. She accepted the appointment. I ended up with unfinished ,messy, braiding hair coming out, the most unprofessionally done hair in my entire life that I paid for. I paid 375 dollars. Only for the owner to evade my texts for 3 days, leaving me voicemails. Insisting I call her for a solution. Climes because I was not calling her I was disrespectful. The whole exchanged tubbed me and the people who saw it as it happened the wrong way. Did not offer to fix my hair when I was pretty quick about sending her pictures of my hair the day after my appointment. However, come this year, the owners tune changed. All of a sudden she apparently offered to redo my hair, when unfortunately, she left me out to dry and took the whole amount without any shame. Even after seeing the state of my hair. Braiders like Rhona beauty leave a bad reputation for those who care about their clients and provide quality work. It took me a while to trust someone with my hair after my experience at Rhona beauty. So whoever goes for braiding please do your research. My experience here was less than satisfactory.

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am submitting this formal response regarding the fraudulent and defamatory complaint filed by ****** ****** against my business, Rhona Beauty. While I understand the importance of customer feedback, this complaint is not a legitimate dispute but rather part of a long-standing campaign of harassment and targeted defamation that has been ongoing since 2022.

    1. Background of the Situation

The complainant, ****** ******, received a braiding service on September 13, 2022, and expressed dissatisfaction two days later after a coworker allegedly told her they could have done a better job.

Despite her dissatisfaction, she initially expressed no issues upon leaving the salon and even tipped for the service.

Upon her complaint, I offered to redo her braids, which is the standard salon policy. She refused any corrective action and instead demanded a refund.

She escalated the matter by reporting my business to the Maine State Board of Cosmetology, falsely claiming negligence. After an intensive review of all provided evidence, the board dismissed the case in my favor, finding no wrongdoing.

    2. Ongoing Harassment & Defamation Campaign

Since the board’s dismissal of her complaint, ****** ****** has made it her mission to harass and defame my business continuously for over three years. This has included:

Regularly leaving defamatory Google reviews under different names/accounts.

Uploading fake photos onto my Google business profile, falsely claiming they represent my work.

Orchestrating a network of individuals who have never visited my salon to leave negative reviews.

Posting fabricated complaints on Yelp, Google, and now BBB, misrepresenting facts and ignoring documented evidence.

Sending harassing emails to my business email account regularly, further proving her malicious intent.

    3. Use of Fake Accounts & False Information

The same individual has left multiple reviews under different names, including ****** A, ******n A and CA

Several fake reviews from her entourage have been identified as accounts that have never been to my salon.

Many of these accounts use identical wording, indicating a coordinated effort to harm my business reputation.

    4. Legal Implications & Next Steps

This behavior is not just unethical, but it constitutes harassment, defamation, and intentional interference with business operations. As a business owner, I reserve the right to pursue legal action against Ms. ****** for:

Defamation of character (spreading false and harmful statements).

Harassment & cyberstalking (repeatedly contacting my business in a threatening manner).

Business interference (organizing a smear campaign with fraudulent negative reviews).

I have extensive documentation, screenshots, and evidence proving the pattern of harassment, including:

Emails received from her from three years ago and suddenly restarted in January of 2025

Text messages sent to my cellphone at odd hours like 12 midnight and 1am in the morning and phone calls to my cellphone around those same times of the midnight hours

Screenshots of fake Google reviews from her and her associates.

Proof that she has created multiple online identities to post negative feedback.

Official documentation from the Maine State Board of Cosmetology dismissing her complaint.

I will be filing a legal complaint and reporting her behavior to the appropriate authorities.

    5. Request for BBB Action

I respectfully request that the BBB remove this fraudulent complaint, as it is not a legitimate customer dispute but rather part of an ongoing malicious harassment campaign. Additionally, I ask that BBB take into account:

    1. The previous official ruling by the state board in my favor dismissing her allegations.

    2. The pattern of fake reviews and harassment she has engaged in across multiple platforms.

    3. The legal consequences of allowing defamatory and fraudulent complaints to be used as a tool for harassment.

If BBB requires further evidence, I am prepared to submit:

Official documentation from the Maine State Board of Cosmetology

Screenshots of multiple fake reviews under different names

    Emails demonstrating ongoing harassment

Side-by-side comparisons of her contradictory statements across platforms

This situation has caused unnecessary stress, financial harm, and reputation damage to my business. I trust that the BBB values fairness and truth in business disputes and will take the necessary steps to address this matter appropriately.

This will be my final communication with Ms. ******, as this matter will now be handled by my legal representatives. Any further harassment, false complaints, or defamatory statements will be met with legal action.

I appreciate BBB time in reviewing this response and urge immediate action to prevent further damage to my business from this individual’ false and harmful campaign.

    Sincerely,

    Rhona Johnson Deah

This salons response to customer dissatisfaction is dismissive and unprofessional. The owner frequently replies to positive reviews with generic, insincere statements but avoids real accountability when addressing legitimate concerns or one-star reviews. The business instead resorts to personal attacks, gaslighting, and manipulation. The only "proof" the owner provides is a dismissal letter from the ***** which holds no weight. As confirmed by an **** representative, there are no regulations governing braiding services, meaning my complaint simply didnt meet their limited criteria for disciplinary action. This does not excuse the unprofessional conduct I experienced. A dismissal letter does not validate misleading business practices, poor workmanship, or unethical behavior. Some facts to consider:1. I reached out multiple times via text to settle this amicably, but the owner insisted on verbal communication. Fortunately, I kept photographic and recorded proof of her repeated excuses.2. The owner has shared my location in response to reviews and taken to social media to paint herself as a victim, all while failing to provide real proof to support her claims.3. Instead of handling the matter with integrity, the owner dismissed a standard demand letter as "harassment," further proving her lack of professionalism.4. My ****** review even invited the business to show proof that they offered to fix my hair. Instead, the owner has focused solely on playing the victim rather than taking accountability.A professional business takes responsibility and acts consistently. I gave this salon multiple chances to correct their mistake, yet they repeatedly deflected blame.I expected professional service but received amateur results. After consulting with experienced Black braiding professionals, I now know this business failed me in every way. I feel completely wronged and misled, and the owner's continued victim narrative is nothing more than a distraction from the real issuepocketing $375 for subpar work and refusing to own up to it to this day.Rhona Beauty, all businesses receive one-star reviewsyou are not exempt. Consumer reviews are protected under the Consumer Review Fairness Act, anti-SLAPP laws in *****, and the First Amendment. Unlike your vague and shifting narratives, I have clear proof to support my claims.I urge others to think twice before trusting this business. Black women deserve to go to businesses that will provide quality service from A to Z. Hair is a very important piece of one's identity and trusting someone to take care of you and provide services matching the price you pay is fair. feeling justifiably angry that a "so-called professional" played in your hair and took ZERO accountability is fair. I will not be intimidated or silenced. The horrible attitude and entitlement of this business owner, speaks volumes.
