We hired ******************************* to tear down and rebuild our 8x12 deck at the end on May, 2022 for $6,800. On June 1, 2022, he tore down the deck and we then gave him a check of $1,000. On June 2, 2022 we gave him a check for $3,500 for supplies and on June 13, 2022 the balance of $2300. He also repaired a step and ramp on our outdoor shed in which we paid $650. Our Town Building Inspector came out and did not approve the project. The Building Inspector tried a number of times to meet with ****, but did not actually get **** to meet with him until August. The following is a list of the results from the failed framing inspection on June 16, 2022 when the inspector met with us. 1. All existing posts need to be mechanically fastened to the concrete slab. 2. Two additional posts need to be added as one corner of stair landing is not supported, and one corner of deck is not supported properly. 3. Stairs need a graspable railing and the staircase is very narrow. 4. No tension ties DTTIZ. 5. Deck is not flashed properly or really at all. 6. Cantilever is greater than 18' for the deck beam. We had contacted **** a number of times to complete the project and he would say he was coming and was then a no show. Once the snow cleared we saw that some of the posts have large cracks in them and are actually slipping off the cement slab. I contacted **** on April 10, 2023 in which he told me he would be out on Friday April 14, 2023 to complete the project. Again, was a no show. We have now been forced to contact another contractor to complete the project properly at our own expense. We realize we have been taken advantage of and because carpenters are not required to be licensed in ***** we have no way of going after the contractor for doing an inferior job. We at least hope that other homeowners will not become a victim with the reporting of this complaint. Thank you,*********************
