  I gave a fully refundable deposit of $3,500 to *****************************, owner of Creative Ceramic & Marble with the explicit understanding that if I was unable to find/contract with a plumber and general contractor for the job that the deposit would be returned to me in full. I notified ****************** by text that the job was not going to be done because I couldn't get the other contractors set up at agreeable prices. ****************** by return text promised to return the deposit but told me he had spent it because he needed to move his ex-wife out of his house. I was shocked that he would spend a refundable deposit when the job was never started and more shocked that he would spend it on personal expenses. I had to chase him for months to get part of the funds back. He finally sent $2000.00 with repeated promises to send the balance. I have never received the balance. I have all of the texts sent back and forth to verify my assertions.

  This woman has quite the reputation here in the lakes region now because of this. She talked to several contractors and plumbers, and every single one of them was "too expensive". In other words, she was another one looking for something for nothing. Because of the people I was able to refer to her, all with the best of reputations here in this area, I was confident that she'd be able to find someone suitable. Once she found a suitable contractor and plumber, the deposit would no longer be refundable. As for how I spend it, that's none of her business, so long as when the time comes, I have the time and materials to get her project completed in a timely manner. In 20 years of business, I've never once failed at doing so. But so be it. I've promised her money back, and she'll be getting it back. She's just looking to leave me a *******************, and so be it. This is the first one in 20 years. I hope that people, when considering someone to do their tile work, will consider that, and the fact that no one else even gave her a price that she found acceptable. Except me. No general contractor, no plumber, no electrician, and no other tile contractor.
