I inquired to become a new patient with The Family Center Of Maine because of my PTSD and depression. I was sent information to create a portal and fill out health information. I then had a session scheduled, but missed it and did not call them. My next one was 11/30/24 Two days after thanksgiving. I lost my job 2 days before thanksgiving and got food poisoning, I was not prepared for a new patient appointment at that point in time. I tried to call to reschedule my session but because of Thanksgiving I could not get through. I was immediately charged $100.00 I called and explained my situation on how I tried to contact them but it was a holiday weekend and I lost my job unexpectedly. The person I spoke to was EXTREMELY rude and did not try to hear me out whatsoever. I stated to them how I wasnt even a patient with them yet or even seen a provider all I did was fill out paperwork work and put my card on file. The person I spoke to was very blunt on how the policy is if you no - show a second time it is an automatic $100.00 fee. I asked if there was anyway to get this resolved because I tried to reschedule ahead of my appointment and she said Nope I said well I dont think I should start services with you guys because I am explaining my situation and Im not even officially a patient with you guys yet. The lady said Ok I will cancel all future sessions and immediately hung up the phone on me. I was surprised for a mental health facility to treat a new patient that way and not even attempt to resolve the situation. I called back and spoke to the manager and she stated I cant have a full refund but I could get a $40.00 refund if I meet with the provider at the next scheduled session. I am not even a patient with them I only completed online paperwork. They also kicked me off of MY portal ACCOUNT without my permission with all of my personal health information, showing my signed documents AND credit card information still on it. They have access to all of that.
