      In late October 2023 I went in for eye exam for I needed a pair of glasses. Indeed the contact lens exam was billed separate about $100 just like the other reviewer said and mine was at the checkout. But I paid entire bill of ~$1000 on my credit card for two pairs of glasses along with exam fees so I wouldnt have any balance to deal with while I am travelingand voila, I get a mail today, April 2024, for balance of $36, for what I do not know. I must reluctantly call tomorrow just to fine out what the heck that charge is/was for!!! Its a bill from collection agency for supposedly 120+ day old charge. What kind of sketchy business scheme do they have going like so many other healthcare and education industry!!!

      Maine Optometry uses deceptive pricing. I went in for an eye exam, which included a contact exam. I was not told about an additional fee for the contact exam until I received a bill for $100 in the mail, that is an additional fee beyond my eye exam. I called and was told that they should have told me when I got there for my exam and that is when they usually collect the fee. Had I known I would have gone elsewhere.Then they said that I could avoid the fee if I ordered my contacts through them. That my insurance would somehow cover it if it was billed that way. That felt like a red flag, but I said ok, so they ordered me a 6 month supply of a contact lens brand I had never heard of. Then, guess what happened? You guessed it, they sent me back that $100 charge and said that my insurance didnt in fact cover it. They are deceptive, and taking advantage of people. I will never be back.
