    May 2025, Received a quote from Nelson's Remodeling to put vinyl siding and a metal roof on my house. He was also to remove 2 sets of cement steps and build 2 porches; 1 small, uncovered by my kitchen and 1 larger, covered on the front of the house. June 2025, I paid $18,560.40 for materials. He cashed the check on June 24. I was traveling most of the summer; checked with him multiple times about when he would start. He had numerous excuses why he couldn't. 4 September, ****** finally showed up at my house. Since it had been so long, I told him not to put on the roof or siding. Just do the porches and some work inside. He should have given me a refund for the materials. He did not. He should have done another quote. He did not. Between 4 and 24 September, ****** and his subcontractor went to my house 3 times. They put down flooring (that I had already purchased and had in the house) and pulled carpet off the stairs. Put new treads on the stairs (so bought a few boards, nails, a pint of varnish, and a paintbrush. Tore up some carpeting from the basement and bought a gallon of sealer, a roller and pan. They built a porch on the front of the house: not the one I contracted for. It is small and uncovered; built with vinyl planking left over from ******** house which is grey. I told him when I hired him that I wanted *****. I have everything in writing and pictures.Sept 26, I asked for an itemized invoice of work done and estimated finish date. He told me everything would be done by 31 October. I checked again on Oct 2. He said he'd be there the next week. He wasn't. In fact, he has not been back since 9/25. He has not refunded the money I paid for materials, not purchased. He has not provided an itemized bill for work done though I've requested it multiple times. Oct 10, I asked for my money back. He did not respond. Oct 30, I sent him a letter and asked for my money back. He did not respond.
