I had employed turner publishing to run an ad for a company. During this interaction I had dealt with Mr. ****** ********. Initially Mr ******** was courteous and professional. It didn't last very long. Mr. ******** used personal information given to the business to personally threaten me. He stated he had the address and would "show up" to collect. I was blown away by the unprofessionalism and immediately informed turner publishing we would cease to do any further business given the outrageous actions of this gentleman. We heard nothing back until about 5 months later when Mr ******** attempted to collect for adds he kept running. I advise anyone dealing with both Turner Publishing and Mr ******** steer clear. He is as unprofessional and unhinged as it gets. A company with someone like this at the helm has no place in business.

      Business Response

      Dear BBB,

      I am responding to a complaint received via **** mail, # ******** by ****** ****.

After thorough review and investigation, we have found this complaint to be incorrect and unjustified.

Mr. ****** **** owner/representative of **** **** **************** signed an agreement to advertise in 6 issues of the bi-monthly **************************** an ***************************** distributed only to adults. One payment was made. Numerous attempts via phone calls, emails and mailed invoices were made to collect on this account.  The billing email system shows receipt of Mr. **** receiving emailed invoices on :

      May 6, 2024

      June 27, 2024

      Aug 29, 2024

      Nov 25, 2024

      Dec 26, 2024.

Mr. ******** is a subcontractor with Turner publishing who gets paid commission on ad sales once the client pays. This is his livelihood.  He has over 35 years of advertising sales in tv, radio and print media. We have used his services for over ************************************************************************************************ fact, most people would call Mr. ******** entertaining. Collections is a sensitive issue so I am sure that any conversation would be considered harsh when money is owed.  When I questioned Mr. ******** of this issue, he admitted that he called and spoke with ****** **** after many failed attempts had been made. Mr. ******** also said that he did say to Mr. **** that he was going to be in the ******** area, and he could either pick up a check at the business or at his home address. In no way did Mr. ******** feel this comment or tone was threatening, but quite the opposite, he felt it to be accommodating. I am sorry that Mr. **** was offended by Mr. ********* actions to collect on services rendered, as I said, again collection is a sensitive issue, and verbal conversations can be misinterpreted. It stands as a he said she said situation, that I can only trust that both individuals speak the truth as they perceived them to be under the circumstances.

Services were rendered to the terms of the agreement. In fact, the agreement states that in the event of cancelation the client must notify us 30days prior to cancelation and the account must be paid in full. This is based on industry best practices. There was no written notification submitted by Mr. ***** however, Turner Publishing did cancel the ads once this account went into arrears.

This account **** ***** Representative/Owner ****** **** is now in the small claims courts system as our collection company has also made numerous attempts to collect and the same uncooperative behavior from Mr. **** was noted in the collection and court files.  This client owes Turner Publishing over $1400.00 for services rendered with court fees.  All the documentation is now in the hands of collections and the court system and will be available for your review through them.

As a final note to the last statement of Mr. ***** where he has been coaching folks to steer clear of Turner Publishing and where he states, A company with someone like that at the helm has no place in business, I find damaging and slanderous. Mr. ******** is not at the helm of my company, and Mr. ***** comments and actions to hurt the reputation of Turner Publishing is very concerning . We all know how hard it is being a business owner. Turner Publishing has been providing good community news to ***** for over 32 years. We support numerous nonprofits, and we follow the children sports and community events. We give to charities all over the state and our reputation has been one of giving , caring, and building communities and helping businesses prosper for over 32 years. In these 32 year we have had no complaints in the management of our company.  The magazine division is a separate division from Turner Publishing but in the same manner the magazine is an education resource discussing legislative issues and health issues on the pros and cons of cannabis use. Our writers have medical and legal credentials. The magazine has been one of the only surviving and highly rated magazines in ****** cannabis industry for good reason. I feel sorry for Mr. ***** experience, and I hope this response quells his comments.

      Sincerely and humbly,

      ****
