A man showed up at our church saying he had asphalt left over from a job and noticed a few cracks in our parking lot that he would cover. He said $4. a sq. ft. and would give us a break because we are church. He said he couldn't tell me the exact cost until it was done. Before we knew it he had a newer truck with asphalt, a crew and a vibrating riding roller. They put about **** square feet of asphalt down and asked for $3****. I told him we could not pay it. After some back and forth lowered it to $28,000. We told him we could not pay that, and regardless our checks required two signatures. He talked about payments, but a church person began to look him up on the internet, found these reviews, called his workers comp company. No answer. We asked for his state license. His partner showed us a highlighted list on his phone that said paving companies don't need to be licensed in the state. I asked for a business card. I didnt get one. We got on the phone with a retired attorney and told her what was happening. The advice was don't pay him. We told him that and he threatened to call the sheriff. We told him to go ahead with that. He then asked for $4000.-****. to pay his crew. We said no we'll wait for the sheriff. His partner had already left, storming off. Once we told him we would wait for the sheriff he left as well. The crew had left as soon as their work was done. He called back a little while later. By then we had reported him to the sheriff's office. He said, tell them I didn't take any money. We have not heard or seen him again. This outfit is a scam.

*** N:My driveway was installed on 3/17/22. The guy in charge, was a nice, but somewhat hyperactive fellow of NS Paving LLC. The company turned out to be based in *****, or, at least, managed from there. He had extremely nice equipment that looked all shiny and new (e.g., trucks, a bobcat loader, and a vibratory riding roller). He had measured/guessed (?) that the driveway was 65 feet long. The price was $5500. The in-charge fellow had apparently been doing another job in the ************* neighborhood and claimed he had some leftover asphalt and would be able to cut me a good deal if I agreed to an installation that day. I did agree, but, later on (3/27/22), had to measure the driveway for edging and found that it was only 45'-8" long.I immediately called the NS Paving Company, LLC at their listed number. I apparently reached the in-charge ***'s wife in ***** who then gave me his cell number. I called him, but there was no answer and the voice mailbox was full. Later that night, however, a text message came from someone claiming to be the in-charge ***'s father. The message said, in essence, "Do not worry, we will take care of everything and make things right."On 3/28/22 or 3/29/22, I was able to reach the in-charge guy who also said, in essence, :Don't worry." He claimed he would come out on Friday (4/1/22) and personally remeasure the driveway. If I was due any money (about $1600 in my opinion), he would pay it right away. He never showed up on Friday (4/1/22)I sent a text message on 4/6/22 to ask, "What next?" No response. On 4/7/22, I reached the in-charge guy by phone. He stated that he was back in *****, and that he would be sending me a check for $1500 within two weeks. There other phone calls in subsequent weeks with corresponding excuses, and the promise the money would eventually come.We are now in September of 2022 and thus far no check has arrived. And, considering the other reviews, it will not be arriving.
