On March 5, 2024, I paid Hometown Tax and Insurance Solutions to prepare and electronically file my Federal and State income taxes. ******************************* is the tax preparer who did my taxes. I provided my banking information for direct deposit. When I picked up my return, I asked ******* if my Federal, *****, and Massachusetts returns were all done and if they were submitted electronically. ******* said yes and that I would be getting $263 from the Federal, $773 from the *****, and $38 from the Massachusetts return. When in early April I still hadn't received any of my refunds, I looked at my paperwork and on the first page I noticed some off things. It said my Federal and Maine returns were filed electronically, but there was no mention of MA. It also said I would be receiving a check for my refund, even though I had provided my banking info for direct deposit. I thought maybe ******* didn't do my direct deposit and that was why I hadn't received my refund because it was coming in the mail. I gave it a couple more weeks thinking my refund was coming in the mail. 6 weeks ago, I received my Federal refund in my checking account even though I gave my savings account information. I thought, ok, maybe now I will also get my state refunds. 3 weeks ago when I still hadn't received my state refunds, I called ******** She said she would look into it and get back to me. I never heard from her. 2 weeks ago, I called and was told she was out of the office that day but she would be in the next day and would call me then. I still never heard from her. I then called last week and had to leave a voicemail. I mentioned how I still hadn't received my refunds, and that ******* was supposed to be looking into it and get back to me but I hadn't heard from her. On Monday, June 17th, I called the state of ***** and was told that there was no return submitted for me. I am still waiting to hear from MA on how to proceed. I want my $125 returned as well as any late penalties I am assessed.
