We installed a new furnace and air conditioner on 6/24/2024. The ** worked fine all summer. The furnace did not work properly. We went back 4 times to take corrective action on the furnace. We determined that the furnace was a lemon from the factory. **** refused to let us replace the furnace with a new one. This complaint was filed on 2/4/2025. On 2/6/2025 we replaced the furnace with a new one. **** has not called back to lodge any complaints since we changed the furnace. We are assuming everything is working as designed.Initial Complaint

On 6-16-2023 and 6-22-2023 we paid 2, ****** to boss services invoice ********. We had a leak in our sewer pipe under the cement floor. They cut the concrete, all cabinets were damaged and removed, fixed the pipe underground, we are on a slab. Cut and removed4square foot of concrete slab around drain pipe and dug up pipe, tied on to good section of pipe with pvcand rerun drain line to sink. Once all work was done, refilled hole and poured cement level the slab. Then kitchen cabinets and counter tops had to be installed. We called boss and said we were ready for plumber to come and hook up dish washer and sink faucet under cabinet. They said they did not have a plumber anymore but they would send a plumber out. He came on September 25, 2023. The sink would not drain, the dishwasher was backing up. We called boss again and ***** and told her the problem and she said we dont have a plumber. We were put on hold and the phone would go dead. We called numerous times and they would not talk to us. This went on for several times . We had to call a drain cleaning service to clean the line out because Boss never did that.when that was completed we called city plumbing from st. ***************. The new plumber found out the extended mechanical vent was not functioning and looked like a used vent. He also replumbed what boss had done.Business Response

The work was completed and functioning at the end of the job. The invoice from ************* does not definitely say that the problem is what BOSS did. He stated his opinion on the invoice not facts. There is no proof that the plumbing fixed the issue. Maybe the drain cleaning fixed it. We have 12 man hours into that job and we completed our scope of work. We referred them to a plumbing company when we were forced to close our plumbing department due to our Master Plumber retiring. We can't control what other plumbing companies do and we do not have plumbers on staff to provide an opinion. We are sorry that we were unable to go back to address her additional issues. We do not feel that a refund it warranted just because a competitor's opinion says so.Customer Answer

8-15-24 Boss: we are not complaining about the original work. Just the plumbing work. Amazing you wont guarantee your sub contractor work. He even admitted he only did bathroom work. We only want what we spent to redo the plumbing. 452, 63. **** was incredibly rude to us and would not take our calls, actually hung up on us. This is a poor excuse for a business and we tell everyone we know. Very unhappy customer??Business Response

The only sub contractor that was hired was a concrete cutting company. All they did was cut the concrete. We did not have any other subcontractors on site so there is no subcontractor work to stand behind. I listened to phone calls and our office was nothing but polite until the client escalated the phone call to the point were it was just our staff being treated rudely. There is nothing other than the opinion of a plumbing company that openly bashes BOSS Services on social media and to clients. We do not feel like a refund it warranted based on the information presented.Customer Answer

OK Boss. We get it. You dont stand behind your plumber business that you dont have anymore. We are a 77 and 79 year old couple. Also a veteran. We called to tell you things were not right and ***** kept saying we dont have a plumber, as a good business you should make sure your job is done right . Too sad a company cant guarantee their service. Amen and goodbyeInitial Complaint

I hired BOSS to put in a new shower, grab bars, toilet and floor in the master bathroom for accessibility and safety. I wanted extra grab bars around the toilet and had to get another estimate for 2 grab bars. The estimate was $750 which we paid because we needed them. Now I know that the grab bars probably couldve been less. After we paid for the work, I asked for a textured floor and a movable showerhead to be added because I fell in the shower. The cost was over $1200 so we decided not to add those safety features. Also the water temperature was too cold and a BOSS guy came out to adjust the temperature in the water fixture in the shower. BOSS offered a free inspection of the **** system as part of the bathroom remodel. They came out on August 22 and inspected the furnace air conditioner and ductwork. They said the furnace needed to be replaced because it had cracks and was leaking CO2. And the ductwork needed cleaning.I had my daughter sign on a iPad my name because I am 83 years old and legally blind and cant see to read. I was shocked when the next day BOSS showed up to install a new furnace. My daughter and myself felt pressured to allow them to put in the furnace. We had no time to consider canceling the contract. My husband was upset that we even had this work done and he feels that there was nothing wrong with your old furnace. The day they were putting in the furnace was the hottest day of the year. Our air conditioner was not working while they were replacing the furnace so the house got very warm. Our nest thermostat drained all the its battery and had to be recharged. The technician couldnt get the Nest to work. He had to reset the nest thermostat and change wires in the thermostat. It took a long time for this thermostat to start working correctly. The new furnace does not have a fan function like our old furnace. After they put in the furnace, I found out they turned off the water heater and we had no hot water. My daughter turned on the hot water heater. The next day they came out to clean the ductwork. Was very hot day, so no air conditioning. They left holes in the duct worked and left the vents covers off in the basement. They also left a mess of dust and stuff outside of the vents. My daughter cleaned up the mess and put the vents back on and called BOSS to come and fix the holes in the ductwork. We have no papers on how much the furnace cost what type of furnace it is or what the warranty is on the furnace. We tried calling to get more information about the contract, still, we do not have any paperwork about the contract. We have automatic payments coming out of our account to pay $187 for ten years to a company called Premier Program. My daughter has asked for copies of the contract at least three or four times and have gotten no response. We feel that the company took advantage of us. We filed a report with the state about this elder abuse.Business Response

****** signed up for a service with us. The service provided heating and cooling for her home. She didn't buy a furnace or ac. She leased them and then got buyer remorse. Everything we did was legal and documented. ****** has been refunded and has agreed that her and BOSS will have no further contact. **** has not done anything wrong and we have made an agreement with her out of good will.Customer Answer

Boss services had come out for a consult because our air conditioning was not working. Their price quote went quickly from ***** to over ***** to over ******. The associate, *****, seemed extremely pushy and made us feel like we needed to make a decision right then and there and when we told him the house is in a trust situation and we legally have to get three price quotes from different companies he became defensive and we felt like he was trying to take advantage of my 91 year old grandmas money and also my 67 year old mother, who is the trustee and also power of attorney. We have continuously attempted to reach out to boss services to get a refund on our membership and to talk to someone in charge regarding the issues, and have spoken to ******* countless times and ***** also, and have been told each time that they would have someone in charge call us back, which a week later, still has yet to happen.Business Response

***,
****** provided you with a repair quote for your system. That was roughly $2,000. Due to the high repair cost and condition of your system, ***** provided you with replacement options. We are sorry that you feel like ***** was pressuring you. That is not how we do business. As for your membership, we do not have anything that states, you can cancel and receive a refund for the remaining months of the membership. We have decided that we will refund a portion of your membership. We have canceled it and refunded half of the purchase price. Since you have been a member for eight months and received $1,011.12 in member discounts, we feel like that is more than fair.
