    "I never had the chance to get my shoulder replaced by Dr. **** because his staff treated me like a piece of garbage. The nurse wouldn't let my wife come by my bedside even though other patients had their wife's and husbands with them by their side. Then the nurse who put my IV in stated I was drunk. Which I haven't had a drink since being 100% medically discharged from the US Army. She threw these tight socks at me to put on. I'm not able to put socks on without my wife's help on top of getting dressed. Then Dr. **** assistant doctor, the one who wears the Jordans basketball shoes told me my eyes were dilated which I don't do drugs either on top of the VA hospital gives me drug screens every other month. Yes, I'm very clean never did drugs and never will. Then they went ahead and let this supposedly drunk vet drive home. Which is a 35 mile drive one way. I guess they don't care if someone is drinking and driving. I'll let Novi Police know about that. Then to top it off my patient portals were erased. WHY??? Dr. **** what did I do to make you so upset at me?"

    This complaint is regarding the surgical center, not Dr. ************************ personal practice.  This patient had mental status changes that significantly concerned staff members.  As per state and federal laws, we reserve the right to decide who we provide medical care to based on our judgement.  We referred this patient to the university due to the complexity of his medical problems.


    Every patient who comes for surgery is required to have a driver because they will be impaired and unable to drive home.  It was the expectation that this patient would have his driver, drive home.  If he chose to drive home, it was his decision.
