A man, named ***** called me to confirm that I was approved for a loan of $3000 from Graphite loan company. He asked for personal information, I wanted to know didn't he have my information already since I was approved. He wanted to verify it he said. I gave him my address, bank account information, social security number, And date of birth. When I called the next day to ask what was happening to my loan Foreign language speaking people answered the phone. They did not understand me or who ***** was. So I told social security office and they told me to report to FTC, IRS and Identity Theft complaint. I am in the process of doing just that. He called me about August 3, 2023 about 8am. I want that company to compensate my time, undue stress to an elderly senior citizen. I want also an apology from the Graphite loan company for hiring such a person. The phone number he gave me was ********************* that number is where the foreign language speaking people answer the phone.

      To Whom it may concern,

Graphite Payments is a credit card company, we provide merchants the ability to accept credit cards as a form of payment.  Since the onset, Graphite Payments has never offered consumer the ability to obtain a loan through us, as we are not a loan company, and thus only work with merchants.  I believe *************** has been a victim of what is called Phone Spoofing (per ******** and Graphite Payments has reached out to our phone provider *************** on a resolution to stop  scammers from using our number.  I have recently received several calls about loans, and since these individuals cannot tell us what company name these scammers are using, Graphite Payments has no way of tracking them down, so we are informing these individuals that this could be a scam going on as we are not a loan provider, rather a credit card processor.  We also advise them not provide any of their information as this could be some form of fraud.  I have provided you some information that I obtained on line in regards to phone spoofing that *************** could find usual.

Furthermore, the call back number that ************** used has no affiliations to Graphite Payments, and when we tried calling that number upon receiving this BBB complaint,  it stated "unable to complete your call, for **************** call *611"

Phone Number Spoofing allows scam artists to trick caller IDs into displaying false information. These scam companies or individuals understand that many people no longer answer calls from ***** numbers, numbers with unfamiliar area codes, or that display no caller ID information (sometimes this comes up as unknown on caller IDs). By spoofing local phone numbers or information into called ID devices, scammers hope to entice the recipient to answer a call they would otherwise decline.  Since intent to harm is hard to prove, and legitimate businesses cant be accused of having the intent to harm, its technically legal to spoof. Phone spoofing is legal in cases like a business displaying their toll-free call-back number or a doctor using their mobile phone and having their office number appear. Even if the intent is to harm or defraud, many of the call centers are located elsewhere than the U.S., so its hard to track and regulate them.

      I hope this helps ***************
