My furnace started making a knocking noise Monday, January 8, 2024. It was exactly the same sound made previously on February 22, 2019, when Goyette Mechanical professionally serviced my furnace. On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the knocking became even louder. I immediately shut it off at the thermostat upstairs. I then planned to buy space ***************** Goyette to request a service call.I contacted Goyette Mechanical & was told I would be charged overtime for an emergency service call because they were booked solid. So I made an appointment for the following morning at 8:00 am. I went downstairs & cleared away cobwebs, vacuumed & sweep around my furnace. The concrete was dry with no oil, no loose springs & no visible metal parts scattered about. On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 8:00 am, ******* from Goyette arrived. He went downstairs to my furnace & called me down after several minutes. He informed me his meter read dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CM). I explained I have a smoke ********** detector above his head. I put new batteries in the device to make sure the CM levels were safe & reset the detector. It never sounded an excess CM warning. ******* said I would need a CM detector upstairs for it to be accurate. I told him I had one on the main floor & would change those batteries as well. Neither CM detector sounded an alarm. The excessive CM level topic was dropped from *******'s conversation.Next, I went downstairs to witness ******* pouring a bottle of oil over my furnace boiler motor. He said my motor was leaking oil all over the place. I explained I just saw HIM pour the oil on it. At that point, I lost all faith that I had an honest man working on my furnace!I went upstairs to get my credit card & planned to tell him to leave. I heard loud hammering & went downstairs. ******* then stated my motor was misfiring & he pointed to small red paint flakes, small springs & pieces of metal underneath the motor. I told him that is impossible because the furnace was turned off. He said to repair my furnace it would cost me $2000.I asked him to leave after 50 minutes. He took my credit card & said he would bring back my receipt. He walked out to his truck & sat inside it for quite awhile.******* came back in with my credit card but told me the office would email my ************ left my residence. When I received the emailed Goyette service work order#******** they had charged me $305, a 2-hour service call. I should have been billed for 1-hour (actually 50 minutes). I am not paying for ******* to sit in my driveway. After I complained to ******, a Goyette employee, my bill was changed to a 1-hour service call using the same work order #.I still did not have a working furnace! I emailed & discussed the situation with ******. I talked to *****, the Goyette Residential Supervisor, who told me another serviceman would come to my residence on Friday to assess the furnace problem. On Friday, January, 12, 2024, a Goyette repairman named ********************* came and fixed my furnace free of charge. $I do feel I still need to make you aware of the deceptive actions by ******* & wonder how many other senior citizens were taken advantage of!Sincerely,********************************** ************ ************************
