I called them because I needed expert diagnosis of a plumbing problem. They sent two servicemen, neither of whom were able to do so. The 2nd *** installed a vent in my plumbing for $530, and when it did not work suggested the toilet was the problem, and that we might want to replace the toilet ourselves rather than shell out another $900 to his company. It was an older gentle*** at a hardware store who, when he heard what was happening, told us what needed to be done. I paid $Grapids Home Services $530. They misdiagnosed my problem, charged me a lot of money for a non-solution, and have stopped responding to my requests for redress.

I relocated to ******** in June 2023, purchased a "money pit" house thanks to lying sellers and Realtors. In the first 2 months I spent over $30,000 with Grapids Home Services to install air conditioning and unexpectedly sleeve the waste line/replace the floor drain. The sales guy for the air conditioner stated they are higher priced than most companies. The only draw to this company is they are "home services" with a monthly subscription that covers service calls and offers consistent maintenance checks. Every technician that I have dealt with has been great - personable, incredibly knowledgeable... until April 19, 2024, when I called about replacing the inside tank parts of a running toilet, since I can no longer lift the tank myself to replace the $40 in parts. Two techs came out that day, and I was quoted $540 to replace the $40 part. Absolutely outrageous. But I had no other options. I did not catch the main tech's name, he was young, and was not amused that asked for some of the parts he was replacing, so that I could fix my 2nd toilet, because I was not paying another $540. The tech did not even want to work on the toilet, he wanted to sell me a new basic toilet - 2 actually, for $1546! They performed the required task in under an hour. After they left I tested the toilet, and the handle was sticking - they did not replace the lever. They were still in the driveway, I asked him to come back in - now he was angry. He grabbed a new handle and did not install it - told me it is what it is until I replace the toilet, and I would just have to jiggle the handle! The toilet is from 2009! The tech said nothing to me after that, he glared at me and walked out and left and said nothing. I did not even get a copy of the invoice. I called Grapids first thing 4/22/2024 to complain about the service and asked for an explanation of the inflated charges, and was told a manager would call me back by the end of the next day to discuss the situation. No one has called.

I had communication with the business this week after leaving a bad review, someone communicated with me almost immediately. I had a conversation with them through text message where they only addressed the cost concern of the complaint,  and I was asked what I felt the price of the service was worth. The resolution is they credited me $350 back to my credit card. However, nothing else about the complaint was addressed. Unfortunately I have warranties with installed house items through them, otherwise I would no longer utilize their services.

I did supply additional information to the BBB the day I spoke with Grapids to inform you of the settlement. Although the company only addressed the cost and they did not address the demeanor of the technician, it's plausible that I may not use their services again.

    Sincerely,
