My fiance and I decided to do a quick elopement with just our parents present. We found *** on Wedding Wire and on 6/10/24 asked if he could be available at the end of the month on Sunday 6/30/24 for a quick elopement. He agreed and requested a $100 deposit that we paid on 6/10/24. A few days later on 6/13/24 we learn that our photographer's company will handle the officiating for free so we let *** know that day and asked if he could refund the $100 since we cancelled only a few days after booking and no work had been done yet. It also was for a Sunday and we booked two weeks out so highly unlikely that anyone else would have tried to book for that same day and that short notice. *** declined to refund the $100 and said it was against his policy and that he was disappointed with us for going with another officiant (it was free!?). Well we are disappointed with him that he took our money and didn't do anything - we sent him no information about ourselves or anything for him to prep yet. We never met with him. All he did was send us a boilerplate email and requested a $100 deposit. Under the circumstances - with the quick cancellation, and absolutely no work had been done yet, and no one else would have booked that same ************** should have refunded our $100 deposit.
