I paid off a vehicle loan around October 2021. Shortly after, I got an unsecured loan from them. I also had a personal credit card with them and had been working for the company. They terminated me in April 2022 due to medical issues preventing me from attending work, at which time I ceased making payments on the unrelated debts due to being unemployed. In February 2023, they filed in court and obtained a judgment for $2,748.41. I haven't had income since they terminated me and have been unable to pay the debt. The judge advised them that there was nothing the court could do because I have no income. On July 9, 2024, my mom passed away. I need to sell the vehicle to cover expenses related to her passing. On Aug 28, I emailed the collections department per the recommendation of one of their employees and requested they provide me with a release of lien so I could sell the vehicle. They ignored my email. On Sept 3, I sent another email. **** called. I emailed **** and the collections ***** stating that I prefer to use email so I have records and asked them to send my lien release. I told them they're in violation of Michigan law. Per MCL - Section ****** (4)(b), 'No other amount shall be directly or indirectly charged ... or received ... for the filing, recording, or releasing of either of ... a record noting or releasing a lien.' There was no response. On Sept 11, I emailed the CEO, who replied: "... Due to that judgment and the loss caused to the credit union, you are required to pay that loss before receiving any services. I did verify that our Member Solutions Team is handling your situation appropriately. **** does need to speak with you over the phone ..." On Sept 12, I replied to remind her they are violating the law, provided a reference of the law, and requested they immediately send the release of lien. I did not receive a response. They are illegally withholding the release of lien.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business and they have indeed agreed to send me my lien release. All it took were complaints made to four different agency's! Goes to show that is common folk need to stand our ground when we know we're being deceived, whether it's a result of ignorance or otherwise. My complaint finally caught the attention of someone who looked further into it and agreed that they were in the wrong. Thank you to ******, who did more than even the CEO ever did.

    Regards,

    ***** ******-**********

I have began this car loan in November 4, 2020 and my payments have always been on autopay. I put in a request for a skip payment for September 5th 2022, and it was not processed courtesy on their end so they moved the payment to October 5, 2022. This miscommunication caused a date to be entered wrong and they skipped my November payment. They claim that communications about missed payments go out 10 days after the due date, which would have been November 14, 2022. I did not receive any communications. I just found out on January , 2023 that I had a payment 31 days past due. This is the 2nd time this has happened. on **** 4, 2023 they told me they would adjust the payment date to **** so it was not late and adjust my loan amount so it reflected onetime payments. That was not the case. They attempted to charge me $182.20 on **** 4, ******************************************** again **** 5, 2023 for the regular payment. TRUE CCU adjusted the dates so that the late payment would not be reported to the credit bureau, but are now stating that I am late on my January payment and have until **** 14 2023 to pay it. Even though my January payment was just processed on **** 5 2023.
