We purchased a ************** boat motor from the dealer Ride North - Kingsford on 6/25/2022 for over $1300, paid in cash.Approximately 1 month later, the boat motor stopped functioning after normal use.We brought it into Ride North - Kingsford for service. The service technicians worked on the motor and stated when they would fix one aspect of the motor, another would appear. Eventually they found melted components inside the motor and stated they would need to talk to the manufacturer, **************, as the motor had manufacturer defects. Ride North- Kingsford has now had our non functioning motor for over 6 months. We spoke with the Ride North - Kingsford service manager, several service employees, the district manager, and a higher up above the Kingsford store level. After a few months of Ride North stating they were working with ************** to get our refund, limited information and missed callbacks from our messages, we contacted ************** directly, who stated The transaction was between you and your dealer; it is up to the dealer you purchased the engine from to determine if they want to refund your purchase since we do not sell directly to the consumer. ******* would have no authority to approve a refund between you and the selling dealer.. After many escalations of our complaint over several months, we received an answer on 6/23/23 that Ride North would only give us either a refund or store credit in the amount of $592, the amount ************** agreed to refund (we're assuming the amount Ride North paid them for the motor). This is unacceptable, as we paid over $1300 for a motor that worked for less than 1 month, and Ride North has had the motor over 6 months that service technicians confirmed had a manufacturing defect. After we told them a refund of less than half of what we paid was unacceptable, Ride North stated they were leaving our nonfunctioning motor outside the store (on a weekend with rain expected) for us to pick up.
