      Black Mold. Dead Rodents left in halls. Appliances left in disrepair for months with no solution, no communication. Dog feces everywhere, inside and outside of their buildings. Fire Hazards. Zero snow removal, unsafe walkways that are not up to code. Staff that calls you repeatedly to verbally harass and threaten you. This is what you can expect with DTN properties; unsafe, uninhabitable living conditions.

      DTN management treated us badly. Reporting for my son, as I had to pay rent and fees: My lease ended. A collection agency called me, and let me know i owe $200, that i never knew about. And i still dont agree with the Waterbury charges. Then ****** who deals with accounts, is horrible. She would not talk to me. She just pushed me to Collection. *** practices should be investigated!

      Anyone signing a lease is of legal age and is afforded the privacy that all adults expect. Her son could have given anyone access to his account at any time by providing his tenant code. It would appear he chose not to provide it to his mom. We are available to discuss any issues with the lease holders. Residents are placed for collection after being mailed their statement to their current address (the one provided at move out) 4 times yet not paying the balance due. Per the contract with the collection company and the Fair Debt Collection laws all residents who have collections are directed to the collection company for all inquires. Their account now belongs to the collection company and we no longer control or can receive payments for the balance due. The collection agency will also restrict all conversations to the contractual parties. As was attempted to be explained to the claimant - we are available to discuss any question the leaseholder may have and can offer direction to resolve their outstanding balance.

      I have been renting with DTN for several months, and it has not been a great or easy experience. The employees are polite and do their best to help out, but the management is determined to take advantage of as many people as possible. For example, there is no fee free way to pay rent. There is a non negotiable fee to pay online, and it costs ten dollars to pay via check, something that is simply egregiously unnecessary in my eyes. And given DTN's choke hold on the ************ area, there is no alternative. I have been very unsatisfied with the handling of my lease by DTN, for this reason as well as others.

      The costs associated in processing payments is not unique to our business. A fee or percentage of the bill is routinely charged for most services and goods. Residents are given the option to pay on line (as the claimant has done in the past) for a significantly smaller fee or pay in person. There is a fee to buy checks, money orders or use a credit card. A fee to enter the payment by hand, have an employee travel to the bank to wait in line to deposit a payment then balance the accounts monthly after receiving the statement has a cost. We try to offset these fees by providing as we did with the claimant a substantial gift card at move in to assist with such expenses. All fees are disclosed within the the contracts and residents do have the choice to select the less expensive option provided they have a bank account to link. A bank account that likely also has fees associated with it. We hope the claimant is able to return to the online payment option to save money. We are also happy for the renewal that was signed. We look forward to another year of having them as welcomed residents of our community.

      Generally poor upkeep on properties that has led to fires, and other dangerous living conditions.
