    I was unexpectedly hospitalized for 3 days which resulted in having to cancel my appt at Great Lakes Vision Care at *************************** 2 Monroe Mi. My appt was scheduled to fix my glasses that I have not been able to wear them since I received them. Needless to say, the appointment I had scheduled was in my very best interest to attend due to this reason - I cannot wear the glasses provided as something is wrong with them. These glasses were charged to my insurance, and I paid out of pocket over $400 maxing out my benefit allowance. I called to reschedule the day of the appt indicating my situation and offered to send my ** note as proof. The office Manager said she could not reschedule me until I paid the $45.00 cancel fee for not cancelling in advance. She stated a family member should have called on my behalf to cancel the appt and even said I should have used the hospital phone to call. I was appalled with her response. I pleaded with her about my situation, and she indicated that is our policy - same day cancellations will be charged. Now I am out a pair of glasses, frustrated, and depressed about this experience. Even if I could afford to go somewhere else to get a new pair - my benefit is maxed, I am out a pair of glasses and all they care about is the cancelation fee being paid.
