Used car buyers beware. Sold me a Jeep that blew a rod bearing after it's first oil change. Before I bought it they suggested I buy a third party warranty they offered for 1200. Now warranty company won't cover an engine replacement because the Jeep has tires 1 size larger than stock, citing its an aftermarket modification, yet they were already installed on the jeep at my time of purchase. Nobody told me this or explained the terms about the tires disqualifying me of coverage. They aren't looking out for you or your best interest. **** is a used warranty commission scam artist who sells junk cars that are masked by a fresh detail. Please take your business elsewhere.

I spoke with ***** and he is getting a full refund on the warranty. There was no malicious intent when selling the warranty to him. I purchased the Jeep with those tires on them and did not modify them.  I will add that ***** said this was his first oil change, he should have been going on a 3rd oil change since he bought the Jeep in August of 2023, at that time there was ******* miles on it, there is now ******* miles on the jeep. ***** stated he has a $6600 quote for engine replacement. I did talk to my mechanic I use, and advised ***** that my mechanic could do it for around $4500. ***** said that even if the warranty was valid the mechanic that he brought it to said it was going to cost $3500 out of pocket. Basically, with the warranty refund of $1225 and him having to pay $3500 out of pocket it would be right around the same cost as if he had the warranty if he uses my mechanic I use. I also told him I would give him $1275 towards it totaling $2500, he insists I said said $1700, I did not. So basically it would cost him $2000 out of pocket to get him up and running even though he did not do regular oil changes.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your rejection of the business's response.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

After my first oil change of full synthetic at 5000 miles is when the engine started developing noise which I originally thought was an exhaust manifold leak. The car has been riddled with problems since ownership, which I've had to pay out of pocket for because the warranty I was sold had inspectors estimate up to a week before they could see it. At this point I do not trust **** or his mechanic to do any repairs after the ineligible warranty and lemon he's sold to me. He is also a liar about the conversation we had initially on the phone over the amount of money he was willing to refund me. I have received confirmation that Cars protection plus is refunding my warranty and I will be asking them to refund me directly and not through him. Below is the response from Cars Protection Plus.

On July 02, 2024, a repair facility opened a mechanical claim on behalf
of the customers Vehicle. During the adjudication of the mechanical
claim CARS was made aware that the Vehicle had been modified beyond
manufacturers specifications; specifically, the Vehicle had oversized
    wheels and tires.

The customers statement that CARS cited the
modifications were made after purchase is incorrect. On July 12, 2024,
CARS claims adjuster contacted the customer to obtain information on
when the modifications were made to the Vehicle and the customer
informed CARS claims adjuster that the larger wheels and tires were on
the Vehicle at the time of purchase.

    Per the above Provisions,
upon determination that the customers Vehicle was modified beyond
manufacturers specifications, the customers *** was cancelled, and the
customer was eligible for a pro-rata refund of the purchase price of
the ***. However, in a show of good faith, because the customer informed
CARS that the Vehicle was modified at the time of purchase and
therefore never qualified for coverage, CARS provided a full refund for
the purchase price of the ***.

    On July 17, 2024, CARS mailed a
check representing CARS portion of the refund due for the cancellation
of the *** to the selling car dealership. The selling car dealership
will provide either the customer or the customers lender with the full
    refund amount due.

Please have the customer allow two (2) weeks for the selling car dealership to receive CARS check and process the refund.

CARS hopes this information was helpful to your inquiry.

    Sincerely,

    The ************* Department
