Doesn't finish the project. 2 years and this house isn't even ready for a building rough in inspection! He was given $23,300 and did the tear out, some electrical, some windows and spray foam insulation because the city code requires it before the R23 is hung. So, without the additional insulation, we aren't ready for inspection. AND now he has quit and said all the money is used up. What kind of person does this? He was referred to us by All State insurance. Now we have to hire an attorney to find out where all the money went. What a mess!

JL construction started this job un the summer of 2022. The job was going just fine until the owner **** *** got out of prison. He wanted to make changes to the job that were not part of the original scope of work. He wanted a hot tub added new underground city water connection and to remove a load bearing wall along with a few other things. I gave **** and **** an estimate for the changes and they did not approve the additional cost. Due to the *** not making up his mind on what he wanted to do the job had a delay. ***** and I discussed the delay and that **** needed to figure out what he wanted done, Well in the the spring of 2023 **** decided to change the plumbing, electrical and remove load bearing wall without obtaining a permit for any of this work. This caused the city of Battle Creek to put a stop work order on the project and revoke my building permit. Since I was the one with the building permit I was the one getting in trouble with the city of Battle Creek. I had to call the city to explain that none of the work being done out side of what I had listed in the original building permit was done by me. Doing work without a permit is a serious issue and could lead to JL construction loosing the builders license. I explained this to **** and told her i do not feel comfortable staying on the job as my license is my lively hood. She begged me not to leave the job. On October 18th of 2023 I sent an itemized estimate explaining the cost of the work I have completed. The total was $24,149.99 not including the free siding I left at the house for them.
