In May 2022, BBB investigated Infinite Auto Protection’s
business practices due to the number of complaints on file. Infinite Auto
Protection is a d/b/a (doing business as) of Opulent Marketing. Signage
at the business’ location 10000 Wayne Rd, Romulus, MI lists Opulent
Marketing as a business at that location. BBB contacted the property
manager for this location who confirmed the business as a tenant. The property manager could not confirm whether employees arrive or work there daily. Certified Mail
to the Romulus address was returned by the U.S. Postal Service marked
“UNCLAIMED”.

BBB also attempted to
contact the business multiple times by calling 888-734-7392. Phone option #1 “For
a Quote” results in a message saying “You’ve reached us outside of our
normal business hours”. According to the message, normal business hours are
Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm EST. Based on consumer complaints and BBB’s
attempts, this message has been in place for several months and is heard even
when calling inside of normal business hours.

The remaining phone options: 2 “Customer
Service”, 3 “File a Claim”, 4 "Auto Repair Shops”, and 5 “Dealerships”-
all result in long hold times or no answer. BBB was not able to leave a
message. 

At this time, the company is believed to be out of business. BBB continues to accept and report complaints against this business and fulfill its responsibility to inform businesses of communications from its customers. BBB encourages consumers with unresolved issues to file a complaint with BBB and the Michigan Department of Attorney General. 

Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:

State of Michigan vs infinite Auto Protection

The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven.

On January 17, 2025, the Michigan Attorney General filed a complaint against Opulent Marketing, Inc d/b/a Infinite Auto Protection (IAP). The Complaint alleges Opulent Marketing is in violation of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act. 

Beginning in 2018, the company marketed and sold vehicle service contracts/extended auto warranties. The website allegedly misrepresented the benefits of the company’s vehicle service agreements by marketing them as “100% Risk Free”, offering a “30 days money back guarantee”, promising a “Fast 24/7 Claims Process”, and a “simple claims process”. The lawsuit alleges that Opulent failed to deliver on these promises by denying and ignoring valid claims and eventually ceasing to pay claims altogether.

Infinite Auto Protection misled customers into believing their vehicle service contracts were being sold from a business operating in the State of Michigan. However, IAP rented office space in Romulus, MI and used that address on its website despite not having any employees, records, or equipment at the location. 

Additionally, the company’s owners purchased Opulent Marketing, Inc. as a “shelf company”. A shelf company is a business entity formed and left to age idly, awaiting an eventual buyer seeking to instantly own a years-old business to lend credibility by deceiving consumers into believing the business has been operating for nearly a decade when it’s really a new operation. 

The Attorney General is seeking an injunction to prevent Opulent Marketing from further deceptive practices, restitution for harmed consumers, and civil penalties. Restitution for consumers, if any, would be court ordered.
