I bought two 20x20 green canvas tarps that are sold with this description Whatever the conditions, you can rely on this tarp to deliver. It is highly resistant to mold, mildew, UV rays, and abrasions, so everything underneath stays safe and dry. Unlike typical tarps, yours is breathable to prevent moisture buildup, keeping your items fresh and secure. And when the wind picks up or you are dealing with rough handling, the reinforced structure of your tarp holds strong without compromise.I installed the first with paracord as a covering for my livestock feed area. Grommets failed within a few days. After some arguing with ******** in sales, they finally agreed to refund for the tarp after I made a claim with my credit card company, but they said it was my fault in how I secured the tarp and told me how to put up the next one. I finally put up the second one about a week ago, I added a full crossbeam support the entire length of the tarp like they suggested, secured with bungee cord like the company suggested and again, the grommets on the tarp failed and now Im stuck with a $313 tarp that did me no good, again.Business Response

Tarps Now appreciates the notification of the complaint filed by the mentioned customer. This order ************), which included two 20 X 20 Green Waterproof Canvas Tarps, was shipped on March 27, 2025. On April 7 we received notification of a customer complaint through ****** (Case ID ******************* defined as: buyer claims that the goods or service received differ from merchants description of the good or service.
After receiving this notice our customer service manager ******** had a lengthy discussion with the customer on the matter as well as an email sent after the customer provided photos of the issue. The response by ******** over the phone and through an April 7 email stated that the issues shown could only be caused by extreme stress due to the wind or water damage. The damage is considered acts of nature and not covered by the Tarps Now warranty.
In addition, ******** in the same email stated that before the customer put up the second tarp, she suggested using a fastener with more elasticity such as a bungee ball, and not paracord (used with the first tarp). The suggestion further stated that the elasticity helps the tarp ebb and flow in the wind, though does not a guarantee the wind would not cause future damage. An additional suggestion was provided stating a vinyl tarp would work better as opposed to the canvas tarp for this application because the vinyl is better suited for this type of use.
This vinyl rather than canvas tarp recommendation was discussed during several telephone conversations between the customer and ********, which ultimately the customer chose not to do.
On April 8, after a lengthy discussion, although the first tarp was not at fault, Tarps Now agreed to fully refund the damaged tarp once it was shipped back. On April 22, $313.91 was refunded through *******
Through this BBB Complaint we learned of the customers issue with the second tarp and the request for a refund in the amount of $313 (the approximate price of the tarp including taxes and shipping).
Tarps Now does not believe that we should refund any amount for this second damaged tarp in question. The first tarp was refunded out of professional courtesy even though the tarp was not at fault. As was relayed by ******** in her many conversations with the customer, before the second tarp was believed to not be in use, the suggestions for elasticity fasteners does not guarantee there will not be future damage.
The main recommendation was to use a vinyl tarp instead. Knowing the potential for damage to the second tarp through the experience of the first tarp issue, the notification that even more elastic fasteners will not guarantee there will not be damage, and the suggestion of the better vinyl tarp option related to this application, were disregarded and the tarp in question was installed and used resulting in damage.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because of the online advertisement of the tarp I already spend $313 on. Please review the online advertisement of this tarp along with the recommendations that I install a cross beam and use elastic fasteners, which I did.Built to Withstand Anything, Designed for Every Need
Whatever the conditions, you can rely on this tarp to deliver. It is highly resistant to mold, mildew, UV rays, and abrasions, so everything underneath stays safe and dry. Unlike typical tarps, yours is breathable to prevent moisture buildup, keeping your items fresh and secure. And when the wind picks up or you are dealing with rough handling, the reinforced structure of your tarp holds strong without compromise.
Reliable, Versatile, and Ready for Your Next Project
Thanks to the heavy duty brass grommets spaced every 24 inches around the entire perimeter, securing your tarp is quick and easy. Perfect for industrial, residential, and recreational projects, it is the versatile solution you can count on time and time again. With sizes from 5' x 7' to 20' x 30', there is an ideal fit for every purpose.
Quality You Can Count On, Shipped Right to You
Your Green Rhino-Tex Canvas Tarp typically ships out within 1-3 business days, fully finished to the actual size (+/- 2) so there are no surprises. While the seams may leak slightly if water pools over them, this tarp is engineered to stand up to even the toughest conditions.
Discover the strength, durability, and reliability of the Green Rhino-Tex Canvas Tarpyour dependable partner in every projectplease note how multiple times it is stated built to withstand anything for every need and your dependable partner for every project.
please also see the sales persons response to my complaint about the tarp We further discussed it was not the tarp that was the problem but the installation, since the tarp had no support in the interior and all the stress/weight of the tarp was placed on the grommets. We reviewed several tarps and suggestions were made for both tarp types and installation ideas.
you can see she said it was not the tarps problem but the installation. Therefore, if I fixed the installation then I should not have the same problem. Yet I do.
please also see an additional description of this tarp When you need serious protection for your equipment, supplies, or outdoor setup, the Green Waterproof Canvas Tarp from Tarps Now has you covered. Whether youre securing tools on-site, keeping your belongings safe from harsh weather, or setting up a sturdy shelter for camping, this 20-mil thick tarp is ready to take on any job. With premium, silicone-treated Rhino-Tex polyester, your tarp combines waterproof protection with unmatched durability, up to three times stronger than standard cotton tarps. At 15 ounces per square yard, it is tough enough to guard against the elements and light enough for you to handle with ease.
so again the company sells the tarp as able to HANDLE IT ALL, even, yes they even said HARSH WEATHER, or a sturdy shelter!
I believe this constitutes false advertising to the extreme. And would like me refund as I installed it based on recommendations and used it as the description suggests that I can use it. It didnt even last a week after installation

Tarps Now stole $752.34 from me. I ordered Made in *** tarps and received Chinese tarps. I returned the unaltered Chinese tarps per Tarps Now instructions, Tarps Now never refunded. Tarps Now customer service agent said every item on their website has a 'Made in ***' advertising badge and Made in *** text, but if it is truly Made in *** it will have two 'Made in ***' badges (!) and items that are imported will show 'Made in ***' and 'In Stock' instead of a second Made in *** badge (!). In short, 'Made in ***' = Imported, and "Made in ***' X 2 = 'Made in ***.' An absolutely fraudulent advertising scheme. I took screenshots of Tarps Now false advertsing when I called them to complain about Made in *** fraud. Shortly after Tarps Now edited their website to state the tarps were imported in very fine print, but kept the 'Made in ***' badge in the description. Tarps Now falsified to my credit card that they never edited their website. These Chinese tarps are garabge and seams ripped from unfolding and pulling into place. Tarps Now told me these were not covered by the advertised warranty because I complained about Made in *** fraud. Tarps Now told me if I provided proof that the Chinese tarps were with ***, they would immediately refund my money - I provided proof of return to Tarps Now, and Tarps Now kept my money. I took photos and videos boxing and shipping the unaltered Chinese tarps. Tarps Now bragged about 'knowing how to win' credit card disputes and then proceeded to make numerous false claims in the dispute. They told the ******************* I said I had chopped the tarps into pieces and resewed them and this is why they would not allow a return. I never did this; I never said this, but the credit card company believed Tarps Now lies and decided against me. Tarps Now showed me that they are brazenly fraudulent and willing to state any lie in order to steal money. Please report Tarps Now Made in *** advertising fraud to the ***! Their brazen theft must stop.Business Response

Thank you for providing the customer narrative along with the opportunity to respond to Complaint ******** dated 11/10/2024. To start with, these are pretty severe statements of stealing, credit card return manipulation, and fraud. We are asking that these accusations be removed from the conversation of this dispute as the process can take a bit of time to gather information especially when any product, as stated in our policy, has to be physically inspected to proceed towards a resolution of return. We are an accredited BBB business that conducts our business ethically and properly. The order for these Hay Tarps dates back to 7/24/24. They were shipped on 7/25/24 via *** and were delivered on 7/31/24 according to the carrier. The initial communication from the customer was on 8/14/24. The issue we were told by the customer was that the ****************** were not made in the ***. Although many of our tarp products are made in *****************, many are not. With this product, and those that are not made in the ***, we state this on the respective product pages. Resolution was discussed on that date between the customer and our customer service manager. On 8/20/24 the customer stated that she wanted to keep the tarps until a solution was found. Our policy is that the tarps have to be returned to be physically inspected for the refund policy to proceed. After varied communication over the months that followed, the tarps were finally shipped and returned, at our expense, to our Michigan facility (the first being received on 11/15/24 and the second on 11/18/24). The receiving of these returns occurred five and eight days after this complaint was filed. We are requesting a few days to inspect, document, and thoroughly respond as the first tarp appears to have encountered heavy use. We look forward to the next communication and a proper resolution to this matter.Customer Answer

Complaint: 22537397
I am rejecting Tarps Now's request that my experience be concealed from BBB users. Tarps Now libeled me and provided no proof. I have provided ample evidence that Tarps Now used Made in *** advertising fraud to steal my money and then deliberately kept my money in numerous acts of willful misconduct. After Tarps Now fraudulently kept my money for four months, the *** advised me to file this complaint with the BBB. Tarps Now finally refunded me, but not until I spent $178 of my own money and days and days of my own time fighting their scam; none of my time or costs were compensated.
Tarps Now falsified virtually the entire narrative they provided to the credit card company when I filed a dispute. They falsified that their website had always stated that the tarps were imported, they provided a false back-dated transaction date so my dispute would be automatically canceled on the false basis of waiting too long to file, they falsified they had sent a replacement tarp and recalled it (the *** number they provided was identified as fake and unused in the *** system), and they falsified to the credit card company that I said I cut and resewed the tarps (I have video proof this is not true). Tarps Now terrorized me with Chinese garbage that I never purchased for four months, robbing me of additional money and significant time. I have ample documentation and evidence.I purchased Made in *** hay tarps from Tarps Now on 7/24/2024. On 8/19/2024 Tarps Now was notified that their falsely advertised Chinese made product was missing factory coating and the webbing ripped apart upon use. Tarps Now replied on 8/20/2024 ONCE THE TARPS ARE IN *** POSSESSION AND SHOW SCANNED, I WILL HAVE YOUR REFUND PROCESSED. WE HAVE NO ISSUE WITH TAKING THE TARPS BACK, PROCESSING A REFUND, AND RESOLVING THIS FOR YOU.
For months Tarps Now lied that *** would pick up the tarps and they never did. Tarps Now sent ominous emails promising they would win the credit card dispute. And months later, when it became apparent Tarps Now would never send ***, I took days off of work and drove 250 miles to take the tarps to the closest rural ***.
I provided proof of *** possession on 11/8/2024 and Tarps Now did not refund my money until two weeks after I filed this complaint with BBB. Tarps Now made no prior statements about delaying the refund due to any other 'policies' obviously invented after-the-fact to justify the continued brazen theft of my money.
A cursory examination of online reviews about Tarps Now practices suggests that I am not the first victim of this exact scam, including in BBB's own records going back to at least 2022. Tarps Now's insistence that BBB censor my truthful and evidence based account of **********************'s actions is outrageous. A business's prior standing with BBB should not absolve them of bad deeds.Sincerely,

I purchased outdoor curtains from Tarps Now in September 2022 to enclose an outdoor area. I provided custom specifications as requested by the sales team. There were errors and they didnt come as agreed but I was able to work through things and get them installed and they were functional. I had furniture delivered that day and it needed to be protected from the elements so I could not return them to be made to spec.In February 2, 2023 the curtains ripped and I notified Tarps Now what occurred and sent pictures. After several days I received notification that Tarps now would not cover the damage that there were 25MPH winds in my area and they considered that an act of nature not covered by warranty. They also informed me that I should have taken the curtains down in high winds, yet the winds in my neighborhood that evening were listed as Fresh Breeze according to the ************************* During the sales process or on any correspondence I was never told to take the curtains down for moderate winds (any winds for that matter) and I was explicit in my conversations as to their use outside. In fact in my correspondence back and forth with Tarps Now they used the term outdoor curtains as did I.After the e-mail denying my warranty claim I requested a phone call with a top executive at Tarps Now to discuss the claim. I was denied the meeting as the sales person told me she makes the decision solely with input from her production team.I would like restitution. I spent $1,060.72 on these curtains and was explicit about their use. I was never advised to take them out of the wind. They ripped in moderate winds and my request to have them repaired was reasonable. To use act of nature as the reason for not honoring the warranty is egregious.Business Response

Thank you for bringing to our attention this issue with the outdoor curtains. On 11/15/2022 there were some issues that the customer contacted ********************** about regarding pockets not being installed properly in the curtains. A return and fix/remake was offered. The customer requested rather for a partial refund due to the $115.20 that they already spent to make the tarp work for their application. A 30% ($107.69) refund was provided and applied through the customer approval to ********************** on 11/28/2022.
We feel we should not be responsible for any issues that occurred following the refund since the customer refused the repair for the original issue and accepted the discount on 11/28/2022 to cover the repairs they made on their own.

We have stated, in our initial response, how the conversation went and a follow up call by our management that ended upon her announcement of who was calling. It is unfortunate that the customer did not see the imported product aspect mentioned in two different places on the product page, which has been there for years. The accusation that we added content after the purchase is not the case. Tarps Now stands by our website and customer service representation.Initial Complaint

Tarps Now appreciates the concerns and comments provided by the customer regarding the issues that were brought forward on the dimensions of the ordered tarps. Although it is our intention to be exactly precise on the ordered dimensions, standard production tolerances industrywise are +/- 2 because of the particularities that occur in the fabrication process and characteristics of the fabric. We state the dimensional tolerances along with other special items relevant to the potential order in the special notes on the same page as the pricing that is quoted in the custom ordering application.
As we are within these tolerances, we are standing by our dimensional policy. However, Tarps Now did extend a $50 discount (which is approximately 25% of the $199.90 order price) as an offering of goodwill for the customers concerns. The customer rejected the discount proposal.

Now, I am in possession of 2 tarps I cannot use, there is now no refund, no replacement, no apology, no more $50 goodwill payment, no customer satisfaction and no expectations met or exceeded.
How much would it have cost your company to re-make my order to my specifications? Was your response a GOOD business decision? Your company clearly lacks leadership, quality and integrity.
Home Depot and Lowes sells 8x10 tarps for $20.00 - $30.00 which I could have cut and sown myself to the correct dimensions.Instead, I paid a total of $230.00 for 2 tarps. That is $100.00 each for two tarps, both of which had dimension issues. One tarp was ONLY a 4' x 4' custom tarp for which your company was not able to produce within a (+/-) 2". I would call this a COMPLETE FAILURE.
Your company sells CUSTOM tarps that require us to accurately measure and provide those details so we receive the exact product we need. What is the point of a CUSTOM TARP if you cannot produce it? Many of the complaints on the BBB are about the incorrect dimensions. Are we to believe the people working in your shop cannot accurately use a measuring tape? Seriously? You are joking. Perhaps you should think about hiring staff that can measure and produce CUSTOM TARPS accurately. These are CUSTOM TARPS after all. Do you understand the meaning of the word, CUSTOM? Two inch variance.....PLEASE.
When I noticed the incorrect dimensions, I sent out an email immediately with no response. I had to make the call to TARPS NOW and what a disappointment. When I first mentioned to you that both CUSTOM tarps I ordered were off by 2 inches on both the length and width, I thought
what you might have said was, "What can we do to make this right." But you didn't...you just guided me to YOUR POLICY that states there is a (+/-) 2" variance and there was nothing else you could do about it. You left it right there....no options, no replacement, no refund, no suggestions, nothing. I had to suggest some kind of compensation....You still balked. Then instead of doing the right thing which was to instruct me to send those back, we will make it right, again, you didn't. Instead, you finally said, "Let me see what I can do." You eventually came back and offered me $50 in the hopes I would take it and just go away. You seemed just fine with my having spent $170 for 2 tarps I cannot use. It didn't bother you a bit. For me, it was NOT OK. Your response was weak and it was the wrong decision on every business level.
I was left with no choice but to file a complaint with the BBB. Once on the BBB site, I noticed there are 13 complaints on the BBB in the last 3 years regarding your company, its products and the quality of your customer service. Many of the complaints were about your company's customer service, dimension issues, which now makes complete sense.
As a company, it was more important for you to stand behind your POLICY of variance instead of doing the right thing and just remake the tarps. Got it.
Yours truly,
*****
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: Tarps Now is lying. The customer did NOT REJECT the discount proposal as they just stated. I received an email from Tarps Now on October 18, 2022, clearly stating they will NOT provide the goodwill discount in light of the complaint I filed with the BBB. (See Attached). They pulled back the discount because I filed the complaint, not because I rejected it. Tarps Now has lied which proves they are an unethical company to work with.
