On 1/19/24, I received a call from NT asking about needing SS legal *** & filing for *** on my behalf. They explained how it worked, but didn't say that if I received back pay, they were entitled up to $7400. If they would've said that, I NEVER would've hired them. They were nice and helpful filling out the application. They filed on 1/22/24. After that, when I called NT, there was never an answer. I left many messages only to get a call back after a week or more. I was doing ALL the paperwork myself and not getting any return calls from **. So, on 2/15/24 (less than 1 month later) I filed with SSA firing NT as my attorneys. *** received my documents and took NT off as my attorneys. I called NT the following day leaving a message that I fired them and to please submit the necessary paperwork to SS to withdraw as my attorneys. They called me back a few days later and I explained my reasons and the ***. said they would file the paperwork. I checked ***eatedly with SSA to see if NT had filed the docs and they hadn't. However, on 2/15/24, SSA took them off my case. My case manager said she would wait on their documents, but, in fact, I had no legal ***resentation any longer. In 4/24, NT sent something to SSA, but they never sent me a copy so I don't know what it was. Since, *** no longer had NT as my attorneys, anything from NT was null and void. Finally, I called NT in 1/25 because they still hadn't filed. They told me that I said I hadn't made up my mind about them being my lawyers, so that's why they didn't file any paperwork. I told them that was false. A few days later, I received a letter from ******* Nyman stating their withdrawal, yet she wrote that they "are not going to waive any fees." They did NOTHING and were my attorneys for less than a month. They have a "no fee guarantee unless THEY win the case." How can they threaten me with that when they did nothing but file my application? This has caused me a lot of mental and emotional distress. This is a scam.Business Response

I hired ***** turkish to help with my ssn disability case. As with the others they were quick to start but never got calls when SS needed items filled out. I ended up filling all the paperwork and did all the leg work. I called a few times and they told me that they check it once a month to review it. They never reviewed anything and never call to ask questions. The only reason they are taking money from me is becuase I did all the work through SS directly MYSELF. Now SS is telling me I owe N and T $7400 for not doing anything? I need that $$ for doctors bills and my treatments.Business Response

Our ************************************* Chair and Senior Counsel recently reached out to the client to address his concerns. Its important to note that the ****************************** (***) regulates attorney fees across all cases, determining the appropriate amount based on its legal requirements.
We have informed the client about the **** process for contesting an attorney fee. To do so, he must contact the ***************** Regulations in writing within 15 days from the date of his notice.
Unfortunately, the *** did not notify us that the client had revoked our representation, nor did we receive any communication from the client regarding this matter. We are committed to cooperating with any directives from the *** and will adhere to their established processes. We will comply with any decision the *** renders. In certain situations, the *** may issue an overpayment notice and request that we submit a fee petition for services rendered on the claim. If this occurs, we will promptly file the necessary petition.
After the discussion with our ************************************* Chair and Senior Counsel, the client indicated that he understood the process and he would proceed with the steps necessary to resolve this with the SSA.

I enlisted this firm a few months ago for my SSDI case, and they were very polite and answered all only questions originally. Now that I'm getting all of these forms to complete from SSDI, these people refuse to call me back. I leave message after message. I make calls everyday, yet they will not call me back. This is ridiculous. It seems like a scam. I'm going to fill out these papers myself, and then they are going to try and collect, if my case is approved. They have some nothing to earn that money. NOTHING! I want to be done with these scammers.Business Response

I signed a contract with this company and have been a client of there since October 2022. I am seeking disability. I leave messages for them to call me back since they never answer the phone. they normally do call me back in one to two business days. I have left several messages I believe around 10 or more starting June 5, 2024 and it is now July 14, 2024. over a month with no return call!! I have not received a callback extremely, extremely frustrating. I am a client of theirs and want information on my case, and need to give them information on my case. I need them to reach out to me and speak with me about my case!!!! this is horribly and completely unacceptable!!!Customer Answer

2/27/24 Filled out form for **** and this office called me & assisted with application. They misrepresented the form they had me sign. My understanding was it was for release of medical information so they could complete the **** forms. They remained on the phone while I was instructed where to sign. I was never provided a copy of the paperwork and cannot access it at all as of 4/7/24. I didn't know it was a "retainer" until I looked at it today to try to find and email address. I was told SS would pay for them to help me fill out my forms, not that it would come out of my payment if I won. I never would have signed it if I knew that. I'm having difficulty paying y bills and would never sign any of my money over to anyone without time to think about it. I feel I was taken advantage of when I was in a very vulnerable state. I had just realized I was going to have to give up my career of 25 years that I worked so hard to obtain and my life was identified by. They were aware of this and I feel they took advantage of that. I feel that not providing me a copy of the paperwork I signed that day is very suspicious and makes me concerned for what else might have been in there or added after the fact. I called their office at the number provided to me in the letter sent to me dated, 2/28/24, on 4/1/24 and left a message requesting a call back. At that time I was going to address some of these concerns and find out how much I was actually going to have to pay them after being told it their services would not cost me anything. As of 4/7/24 I have not heard back from anyone in any of their offices. After doing some research I'm not even *** the lawyer assigned to my case is able to practice law in my state. Due to what I feel has been misrepresentation of their services, what I signed, and not receiving a call back after my call I no longer want or need to be represented by them and hope the BBB can help with this and provide written revocation of contract.Business Response

Our Director of ****** Services/Senior Associate Attorney, *********************, reached out to *************** and left her a voicemail to touch base. We certainly did not intend for **************** to misunderstand our fee structure, and do not want to cause her any undue stress during this time.
Our firm has withdrawn as representatives on **************** claim, and all the work that we have already completed on her claim will now been considered performed pro ****. We will no longer have any connection with her Social Security claim unless reengaged directly by ****************.
A very important part of our intake process is explaining not only the full claim process with the ******************************* but explaining how our firm processes, interacts regarding and works on Social Security claims. This includes covering our attorney fees (which are regulated by the *** and on a contingency basis), and these fees are also outlined in the retainer agreement that all clients sign. We know that this entire application process can be confusing, and in turn work to be as clear as possible but do understand and respect that this is a vulnerable time for claimants.Customer Answer

I've been dealing with this firm since October of 2021, they started off treating me with the white glove treatment. As of now, they have change case managers a total of five times with my two cases. They are very vague with their answers and they never call, its always a email, and I've had to initiate the email. One case manager let me know he doesn't answer his phone until Tuesday and he is out exactly 5pm. I understand people need to leave, but don't try and train clients in doing what you want them to do. As far as me and my representative it's been a lot of miss communication and alot of emails, calls are limited to maybe one every two months.Emails may be answer. Am in a ******* comp case and my representative knew nothing about the insurance company ordering test on me. When I email the representative, they stated oh just go to the test and inform me when you finish. All this should have been a phone call, representative has not been clear or decisive on decisions. It has been very frustrating and unprofessional on their end. I just want to end my two cases and move on with my life. I don't know who is a bigger problem, my cases are this law firm.Initial Complaint

on approx Sept. 20th, 2022, I filled out an application for Nyman Turkish , that was supposed to be used for filing a SSDI claim, I gave this person , some information, like my social security #, that now, I'm wishing I wouldn't have. I have been trying to call them, but nobody ever answer's their phone, So, now I'm getting pretty worried about my personal information. So, I was hoping the BBB could help me with this. I would like to find out, if this person that I gave my information to, really was an employee of Nyman Turkish, or was this just a scam?, could you find out for me, which is the case. Thank You!Business Response

I am very ill and have filed for SSI benefits. Nyman Turkish PC sent me an email with papers to sign and email back to them stating that tney would collect $6000.00 as a retainer and 25% of all benefits that I will receive as payment for their legal services. After showing this to a family member I was advised to revoke this contract immediately as we will not need their services, but when I called they refused to give me any documents stating that we will not be using their services, only that they would send me something in the mail. I am not comfortable with that. I would like immediate signed documents that confirm terminiation of their services. I am very ill and am worried that somehow this will be overlooked if I am to wait for their mail.Business Response

Nyman Turkish PC provides the following response. The complainant completed an online form asking our firm to contact him regarding legal representation. After discussing his matter with one of our agents our firm agreed to handle his case and he signed our retainer paperwork agreeing to the fee structure. The firms fee structure itself is strictly regulated by the federal government and is applicable to all law firms who handle Social Security Disability cases.
There is no basis for a complaint here as Nyman Turkish has done nothing improper and until the submission of this complaint did not previously receive a request from the complainant to withdraw our representation. It appears that the complainant has a case of buyers remorse, but that does not implicate Nyman Turkishs business practices. Nyman Turkish will contact the complainant and will withdraw representation upon confirmation, but submits that there was nothing improper about the agreement entered into between the complainant and Nyman Turkish PC.
