• Advertising Review:

  On November 27, 2024, BBB Serving Eastern Michigan and Upper Peninsula asked the business to substantiate, modify, or discontinue certain advertising on the company website. The company advertises the following, which may not be a comprehensive list of all such claims:

  • “ Polywood Shutter Insulating System blocked as much as 30 degrees of temperature coming through the window. This means the HVAC system doesn’t have to work as intensely.”
  • “With Polywood Shutters you can reduce your utility bills and enjoy an energy tax credit up to $1200!”
  • "Our shutters are 100% Manufactured in the USA"

   

   

  The BBB Code of Advertising states, “Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request.  All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided”.

   

  Section 34 of BBB's Code of Advertising also states, "Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data."

  According to Section 37. Made in USA Claims, "An advertiser must not express or imply that a product or product line is exclusively “Made in USA” unless all or virtually all of the product is made in the U.S." 

  As of December 18, 2024, the business has failed to respond to BBB requests for substantiation.
